Korean Early Literacy program instructors and instructional assistants got together during their end of the school year celebration.
The School
Board is scheduled to vote on FCPS’ FY 2019 Advertised Budget on Thursday, May
24, at its regularly scheduled meeting. Redesigned pay scales for the remaining
unified scale positions will be implemented upon the budget’s adoption. The
proposed pay scales are part of an ongoing effort to provide market competitive
employee compensation. (Redesigned pay scales were put in place for teachers,
classroom instructional support positions, and hourly contracted positions in
Food Services and Transportation at the start of FY 2018.) Visit
Human Resources’ Compensation Study page for more details and to view the
redesigned unified scales.

Bill Brady and his wife at the beach in Long Island, NY.
Bill Brady began teaching physical education at Great Falls ES in
1991. A few years later, he helped open Buzz Aldrin ES. Bill
says, “I had an amazing principal who encouraged and mentored me to get my
master’s degree in education administration from George Mason University. But, while at Aldrin, I worked with students with physical disabilities
and really fell in love with advocating for their educational experiences. So, I
started as an adapted physical education itinerant, working
with teachers and students with various disabilities to participate in general
physical education and in self-contained, adapted physical education classes.” Bill later graduated with a doctorate of education in special education from the University of Virginia. He continued working in the adapted PE itinerant program until 2009, when he moved to Laurel Hill ES.
Bill sees his primary responsibility as creating an optimal
educational experience for Laurel Hill students and challenging
their skills in a growth mindset environment. One of his favorite aspects of teaching is coming up with multiple ways for students to explore movement and experience different
activities to instill a lifelong journey of learning and appreciation of fitness
and wellness. Fellow teacher, Marissa Williamson, describes Bill as “an amazing
listener, problem-solver, positive person, and overall great teammate.” Principal
Janice Dalton agrees, “He is truly an amazing person! Simply
outstanding.”
Although Bill doesn’t have much free time, he likes to start his day with
a quick workout. He also loves doing yard
work and building things around his house. Thanks, Bill, for helping to build our students, too!
You are still eligible for your $100 wellness

related to your general health and well-being that takes about 15-20 minutes to
complete. It is confidential–only you and your health plan will receive
the individual information. In compliance with state and federal privacy laws,
your information is never shared with FCPS. Visit the Employee Wellness
