Seniors
and Families of Seniors! You won't want to miss your 2018 Baccalaureate,
planned by Seniors and sponsored by the PTSO on Sunday, June 10 at 2pm in
the Woodson Auditorium. Baccalaureate is an interfaith, inclusive program with
music and inspirational messages to the Senior class. It's a wonderful
opportunity for reflection on your achievements and on the future as you move
toward the next chapter of your life. Be sure to RSVP at https://baccalaureate2018.eventbrite.com. It's also the only time for seniors to
wear their cap and gown at Woodson; a photographer will be available after the
program.
Parents

for the reception after Baccalaureate. Coming soon!

PTSO Pantry Announcement
Woodson's Student Services Department
worked with a Marymount University student intern, Shannon Fay Kamenick, to
establish a pantry for Woodson students in need. Ms. Kamenick attended a recent
PTSO meeting to ask for the PTSO to sponsor the pantry going forward.
We are pleased that the pantry is currently stocked with
food (i.e. soups, macaroni and cheese, granola bars) and basic staples (i.e.
tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant). Through our awesome parents' network,
the Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters (BRAWS) organization has donated
feminine products to our pantry.
Eligible students should work with their counselor to access
the pantry.
We look forward to supporting the pantry in the future and
hope that you might consider donating when we restock the pantry.

Career Center
Volunteers Needed
Many or our Woodson Career Center (CC) parent volunteers are graduating
this year. CC volunteers have a unique opportunity to learn about the
post-secondary research and the application process during their volunteer
shifts.
Parents of rising 9th and 10th grade students especially benefit because
they will feel more comfortable when it is time for their students to embark on
post-secondary research. To provide consistency, volunteers are asked to commit
to a shift for an entire academic year. Interested parents can sign up at https://tinyurl.com/CC-Volunteer-18-19.
Register by or before Monday, June 4th for best consideration.

Sports
Highlights
Girls Varsity Soccer
In a weather interrupted game, the Lady Cavaliers suffered their first
loss of the year to South County (1 – 0) in the conference tournament
semifinals. The home game started on Tuesday night, but was halted due to
lightening and storms in the area after ~ 28 minutes of play with the score
knotted at 0. The game resumed on Wednesday where it left off in wet and rainy
conditions. The Stallions struck ~ 13 minutes into the second half on a half
volley perfectly placed in the upper right-hand corner. Strong shots by the
Cavaliers were consistently thwarted by the Stallions keeper. The team takes their 10 – 1 – 3 record into
the Regional tournament starting on Monday, May 21.
Girls Varsity Lacrosse: Patriot District Champions!
The Cavs faced Robinson for the district championship
Wednesday. Natalie Gates (6G/1A/8DC/4GB) scored first assisted by Carlie
Hartung (5A/1TA/2GB) but Robinson answered back quickly. Campbell Brown
(5G/1GB) scored on a lefty free-position followed by Gates again, then a goal
from Cassia Kruse (2G/2DC) assisted by Logan Dougherty (7A/1G). A hattrick from
Gates put the Cavs up 5-2. Another goal by Brown, two by Devin Alsup (4G/1GB)
and one from a breakaway by Margaret Stephan (2G/6DC), who was face-guarded the
entire game, put the Cavs up 9-3 at half. The Cavs dominated the second half
scoring twelve more, including a goal by Sara Cordia, to Robinson’s two for a
21-5 win. Defenders Rachel Williams (2GB), Sydney Andes (1TA), Sarah Wilson
(1TA/2GB), Maddie Stedham (2TA/1GB), Annie Reeves (1GB) and Sabrina Fasold held
Robinson to three fewer goals than they scored in the regular season game.
Regional quarter-finals game will take place Tuesday.
