Getting to know Robinson . . . .

"T" is for testing again this week.....

Please be sure that you get plenty of rest, start your day with a protein packed breakfast and arrive on time to school, especially on our testing dates.    It is  time to Show off Our Learning (SOL)!

Please remember that NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES  or backpacks  are allowed in a testing site.  The only items you need to take with you to your testing site is a book to read and a pencil!   Students, please be sure electronic devices are left in your locker and/or at home on testing dates. No electronic devices can be on one's person, including pants pockets and/or sweatshirt/coat pocket(s). Please note this also includes internet capable watches and Fitbits, along with cellphones, Ipods, tablets, gaming devices etc. Please don't put yourself at risk for having a testing irregularity or test postponement.  Any phone or electronic device or backpack in a testing area will result required parent pick up and additional SR&R consequences if determined to be for the purpose of academic dishonesty etc.

Take your time and do your best job as you show off your learning!

SPRING SOL TESTING

Tips for you and your middle schooler as we begin the spring testing season at RMS.

You can find the May SOL schedule as well as resources for SOL practice information on the Robinson website.  Please click on this link to go directly to our Middle School Testing information:  https://robinsonss.fcps.edu/academics/middle-school/testing

While it can be tempting to simply count down the days until summer break, spring is a prime time to ensure your child has a productive and successful spring semester.

Keep your grades up.
All Students: You still have eleven more weeks left of school and SOL testing is right around the corner.  Consider staying after school to get extra help and work hard to finish out the year strong.

Meet with your counselor.
All Students: If you are struggling and need assistance or resources.  Go see your counselor, school counselors can devise a plan to help you get back on track before it is too late. Be proactive and set up a time to meet with your school counselor.

Reassess your extracurricular involvement.
We have a variety of extracurricular activities after school.  If you have not done so this would be a good time to explore new activities and meet new friends.  Watch GMR for a variety of daily activities, check the daily schedule on Twitter @RobinsonSSNews, or go to the RMS afterschool webpage http://robinson-ms-activities.weebly.com.  Activities end by May 31.

Ms. Aunon is our afterschool specialist and is available to speak with all students on stage during lunch.

Start test prep for SOL.
SOLs will begin soon. Do your best. Eat a good breakfast! Come prepared.  Get a good night’s rest.  Remember no electronic devices are allowed in testing rooms. Don’t forget to visit the SOL practice site for additional practice tools and test taking tips.

Plan for the summer.
What are your plans this summer?  Summer is a great time to examine your current school year and determine what you want to do differently next school year.  Set your goals now. Also summer is a good time to explore your city, state, or country. We also have a variety of local camps you may be interested in attending.   Click on the following links to take advantage of the summer learning programs in FCPS.
