Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy Friday Eagles!
National Parent-Teacher Association’s Teacher
Appreciation Week has been a huge success! Not only have we been treated
to a smorgasbord of treats and food from our parents, but we are topping the
week off with massages. Most of us are thinking that a diet is in order
starting at 3PM today! Thank you, parents, for making our staff feel extra
appreciated this week and always.
Speaking of a huge success, Lanier’s own Spinners
team just placed 2nd in the NATION at the KidWind Nationals
2018! With 40 teams from all over the country competing, we are SO proud
of our team: Laila Aquavella, Tommy Breslin, Christopher Breslin, and
Stephanie Tai. Also, their awesome sponsor and teacher, Mr. Robert
D’Souza deserves a congratulations for his coaching and mentorship of our
students during this journey! WHAT AN
ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d now like to take a moment to recognize three
separate teacher celebrations that occurred this week:
On
Monday, the City of Fairfax Rotary Club Teacher(s) of the Year were celebrated.
o
Mr.
Kevin Deans from Lanier Middle School
o
Mrs.
Jennifer Swientiniowski from Fairfax High School
On
Tuesday, Fairfax County Public Schools HONORED our retirees.
o
Mrs.
Paula Bentz, US History
o
Mr.
Mark Delano, Health and Physical Education
o
Mrs.
Polly Dredge, English for Speakers of Other Languages
o
Mrs.
Ginny Lordahl, Mathematics
o
Mrs.
Lynn Murphy, English and Library
On
Thursday, Fairfax County Public Schools HONORED our new National Board
Certified Teachers (NBCT).
o
Mrs.
Margaret Arnold, Mathematics
o
Mrs.
Pamela Clingenpeel, Health and Physical Education
o
Mrs.
Dayle Ranallo, School Counseling
o
Mrs.
Julianna Woodill, Music
For each outstanding professional above, he/she has
not only given himself/herself professionally, but there is always so much we give
of personally, to this profession as well. We celebrate the successes,
and we carry the heartbreak when there is disappointment, and yet these
teachers have proven to be among the most dedicated. I am proud to serve
and know them, and on behalf of our entire community, I extend my thank you for
their service, passion, and commitment to Lanier. Worth noting is
that Lanier had the most NBCT teachers because of the generous gift and
support from the City of Fairfax; they pay for teachers to complete this
rigorous, reflective and worthwhile process.
Finally, after seeing Fairfax High School’s
production, The Little Mermaid last week (WOW!), I am looking forward to
our production of Fiddler on the Roof tomorrow night. If you
happen to be available, there are shows at 7PM tonight, 2PM tomorrow (with a
“Meet the Characters” event afterwards), and 7PM tomorrow night.
Come one, come all, and celebrate the talents of our students!
Always your proud principal,
Erin Lenart

Fiddler on the Roof Production
The tickets for our wonderful show, Fiddler on
the Roof, are on sale. Family and friends can now purchase
their tickets online. Show dates are 5/10, 11, and 12 at 7:00 pm.
On May 12th, we will have a special
matinee at 2:00 pm for younger audiences.
Children will have an opportunity to meet the characters after the show!
The website for ticket sales is:
https://www.itickets.com/register/new/398487
A few things have changed since the tickets are
available online. When you buy tickets, you will need to buy them for a
specific night, rather than a general admission tickets which was good for any
performance. The tickets are $0.50 more expensive, but if you share the
news about the show on social media you can save $0.50.
Tickets will still be on sale at the door, and in
the cafeteria the week before the show. We cannot wait for you to see all
the amazing work these students have put into the show.
