Herndon Elementary SOL Schedule

The Virginia SOLs will be administered May 7-June 1.  These tests give us important information about the skills your student has mastered and where they might need more assistance from us as a school.  Parents, we ask you to support your student during this time by making sure they get a good night’s sleep the night before, a good breakfast the day of the test, and to avoid scheduling appointments.  Thank you so much!

During SOL testing, lunch times for students in grade 3-6 may change to accommodate grade levels who are testing on a particular day.  If you plan to meet your student for lunch please verify the time with their homeroom teacher, Ms. Almquist or Ms. Drake.

mr. covington
HES music teacher, James Covington, played the trumpet on the last song with out students!

All County Chorus Festival took place the last weekend of April, ending in a beautiful concert.  Eight of our Herndon Elementary students participated in this wonderful event: Jennifer Abarca, Geyshi Dubon-Lainez,Tavia Fife, Zharick Flores-Lopez, Emy Jimenez, Feven Mekonnen, Charlotte Olsen, and Carolyn Wright accompanied by our general music teachers, Ms. Blend and Mr. Covington.   This is one of many ways Fairfax County Public Schools supports our Fine Arts education and as Dr. Brabrand said in his opening remarks, “Music has been doing Portrait of a Graduate all along.” We are thankful to be in a county that understands the value that the Fine Arts brings as well as supports our staff and young people who strive to bring the Fine Arts to life. You can see this amazing event too as it will air on channel 21 throughout May, June and July.
