Barnes & Noble Night
Lees Corner
Elementary will be hosting a Book Fair at Barnes & Noble Book Store!
When: Friday, June 8th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Where: 12193 Fair Lake Promenade Dr. Fairfax, VA
LCES will receive a percentage of the sales that evening to spend
on books and other resources for our library.
Students will have the opportunity to listen to guest readers,
make bookmarks, and participate in an “open mic” for reading poetry and short
stories.
Child ID Event--Save the Date
A free child ID card event will be held for
LCES families in conjunction with the Fairfax County Sheriff's Department on
Monday May 14, 2018 at Lees Corner Elementary from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., ahead of the
PTA meeting. The process generally takes less than five minutes per child and a
parent or guardian must be present to verify the identification.
At events all
around the county, Sheriff’s deputies and volunteer reserve deputies fingerprint,
photograph and measure a child; add any demographic information a parent
provides; and then produce a plastic ID card for the parent’s safekeeping. To
protect the privacy of the family, none of the information is retained by the
Sheriff’s Office. For families in our community, this card could be the key to
assisting law enforcement agencies should their child ever become missing. For
the children, the process of producing the card offers a fun and positive
experience interacting with law enforcement officers. (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/…/community-free-child-id-car…)
