SOL Schedule

SOL Test Schedule

Electronic Devices During SOLs

It is important that all students and families understand the procedures that we have established to prevent testing issues related to personal devices. The computers that students need to show what they know on SOL assessments will be provided to students. The program that students will use for SOLs will be on each device and that is the only program that students will use on their assessment day.

Personal Devices on Testing Days

Leave it at home. Students are strongly encouraged to leave all personal electronic devices at home on days when they are scheduled to take standardized tests.

Lock it up. If students forget and bring a personal electronic device to school on testing day, they will be directed to turn it off and teachers will have plastic bags to label and store students’ respective devices. Devices will be returned at the end of the school day.

Consequences. If a student brings a personal electronic device into the test environment, he or she will be subject to procedures for addressing test security concerns including: confiscation of device, rescheduling student’s test session, identifying actions as attempting cheating which could affect student’s score.

For more information about the FCPS guidelines on personal devices during standardized testing, please refer to https://www.fcps.edu/node/35928 .

Dress Code Reminder

As the weather continues to get warmer, please remind your students to dress appropriately for school. A few tips to remember include (but are not limited to):

  • Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be longer than fingertips when arms are extended at side
  • Tops must have straps or sleeves (no crop tops, or halter tops)
  • Pants and shorts should not sag or undergarments showing

Students who are in violation of the dress code will be asked to change, and the parent/guardian may be called to bring alternate clothing if necessary. We appreciate your support in this area as we strive to maintain consistency between home and school.

Request for Career Day Volunteers

Dogwood Elementary will be hosting Career Day on Monday, June 11, 2018! The purpose of Career Day is to expose students to a variety of careers in order to educate them and inspire them to consider their future aspirations. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Students in grades K-6 will participate in Career Day. However, we can’t do it without you! We are looking for volunteers to present during 30 minute sessions.
