Message from the Principal 5/1/18

Dear Virginia Run ES,

I want to take an opportunity to personally thank Mr. Skerker, who acted as principal during my family leave. My return to Virginia Run this week was seamless due to his hard work and efforts on behalf of the students and staff. I would also like to thank Mindy Milliron, who took on the responsibilities of assistant principal during my absence, and a big “thank you” to the entire staff.  It is not lost on me that anytime a staff member is out for an extended period of time, it requires everyone to take on extra duties and responsibilities. Because of the dedication of the entire staff, I was able to focus on what was most important at the time, my daughter and her baby.

Baby Cora was born at 29 weeks gestation on March 7th, 11 weeks early weighing in at just 1 pound 4 ounces. She continues to be in the NICU growing (currently 3 pounds 4 ounces) and getting stronger every day and hopefully she will get to go home soon. I was very lucky that the doctors agreed to let me hold her before I returned home. As you can see in the attached photo, we had a great chat.

I feel very lucky that I was able to support my daughter and her family during this important time, and as hard as it was to leave them, I am happy to be back at Virginia Run ES.

Sincerely,

Laraine W. Edwards
