Using this link, please share input on your child for
the 2018-2019 school year. We know that a good teacher-student match and
a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully
consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not
request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many
variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share
particular academic or behavioral information.
Completion of this form is optional. If you would like to
provide input, you may use this online form, or print, complete and email to
Mrs. Iyer or a hard copy
may be sent to the office by June 1, 2018. This is a hard deadline. Please know
that input from forms turned in over the summer are difficult to honor since
the grouping process has already started.
Thank you to the PTA for another wonderful event last

VDOE and Fairfax County Public Schools have an electronic device policy which is to be followed during all SOL testing. To maintain test security, the possession of these devices (e.g., cell phones/mobile communication devices, Apple Watch, FitBit) in the testing room is prohibited. If a student is discovered with a prohibited electronic device while in a test environment, the student’s test will be stopped, the electronic device will be confiscated, and the student will be removed from the test environment. School administrators, consistent with the Acceptable Use Policy and Student Rights and Responsibilities, have authority to search the “item of personal belonging” (e.g., the cell phone or mobile device) if it is believed to contain evidence of a violation of school regulations (in this case, cheating). School administrators have the right to apply school-based consequences based upon their investigation of the situation. Please talk to your student about the electronic device policy and the serious consequences of violating it.
As we head towards the month of May and VA Standards of Learning (SOL) tests (grades 3-6), we wanted to provide our Eagle View community with some review/practice resources.

This spring, students in grades 3-8 will take a computer adaptive Standards of Learning (SOL) test for both reading and mathematics. Computer adaptive testing (CAT) is an assessment model that provides a customized test experience for each student. Each CAT assessment begins with a question of moderate difficulty. A correct response leads to a more difficult question, while an incorrect response leads to a less difficult question.
Since question difficulty is tailored to each student's responses, CAT assessments can measure a student's performance with fewer total questions than are needed with a traditional assessment. All students complete the same number of questions for the overall test.
Learn more about computer adaptive testing in FCPS.
Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Guided Practice Suggestions for SOL Tests can be found here.

picture pose. All students will have their picture taken this day.

ADVANCED ACADEMIC PROGRAMS (AAP) SCREENING FOR SCHOOL-BASED (LEVEL II-III) SERVICES
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) offers a continuum of advanced academic services for all students in grades K-8. Learning experiences are designed to develop higher-level thinking through enrichment, acceleration, and extensions of the Program of Studies (POS). Teachers, administrators, and advanced academic resource teachers (AARTs) work together to provide the following levels of school-based services in each elementary school:
-
Differentiated Lessons in Areas of Academic Strength, Grades K-6 (Level II)The AART collaborates with classroom teachers to provide additional challenge through lessons and resources that extend and enrich the POS. Level II services are part of a talent development pool. Students are rescreened annually to make decisions about the need for this level of service.
-
Part-Time Advanced Academic Programs, Grades 3-6 (Level III) Students identified by a local school screening committee for part-time advanced academic services are challenged through models and strategies designed to extend and enrich the POS in the four core subject areas. Students receive direct instruction from the AART at the local school using curriculum from the AAP Curriculum and Resources to Support the Differentiated Framework. Students identified for Level III services continue to receive level III services through grade 6.
Screening for school-based services can happen at any time during the school year but is done schoolwide in spring to determine services for the next school year. Parents or guardians may initiate the screening for school-based (level II and III) services by submitting the AAP School-Based Services (Level II-III) Referral Form (available at under “Forms”) to the AART at Eagle View by Friday, May 11.th Multiple criteria are used to screen students for all levels of AAP services. Parents or guardians who submit a referral will be notified by Eagle View Elementary of their student’s eligibility status in June.
If a parent or guardian wishes to appeal an ineligible decision for level II or level III services, they may submit an appeal with new data for consideration by the local school screening committee. This new information should be submitted to the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Nicole Sharpes.
Please note students who were not found eligible for level IV services for the 2018-2019 academic school year will automatically be screened for school based level (II-III) services.
