Poplar Tree second grade Lego team "Hydro Panther
Warriors" attended First Lego League Junior (FLL Jr) expo at Explore More
Discovery Museum in Harrisonburg, VA on Sunday, April 29. Our team displayed a Lego model showing water's
journey from source, to purification through a water treatment plant, and
finally to water use at home. Our team model used two motorized parts using
Lego WeDo controllers. The team members took turns to operate motors and
demonstrate the model to visitors.
We received great review comments and the team won Lil'
Einstein Award (for in-depth knowledge of the model and challenging theme
topic) at the expo.
Team Hydro Panther Warriors is made up of these second grade
students: Arjun, Jay, Ketan, Pranav, and
Prathik. The team met once every week staring February till the expo date
and went for a field trip to H. L. Mooney Water Reclamation center in Prince
William county during the Spring Break.
The team was proudly wearing Poplar Tree Panther's Paw on
their T-Shirts!
Poplar Tree second grade Lego team "4
Aquateers" successfully completed the FLL Jr. challenge this year and showcased their model and project at the FLL Jr. EXPO held at Battlefield HS. The team includes: Aakash, Nikethia, Saina and Shaurya.

Award" for their creative model and technical depth. "4
Aquateers" were also invited to showcase their Poster and Model at
the "2018
USA Science & Engineering Festival" in Washington, DC in early April.
The team also showcased the same
model and poster at the PTES Science Expo and received praises by the
peer students and judges.
