Art Show

Oak Hill was well represented at the Chantilly Pyramid Art Show.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We certainly are experiencing Spring weather this week with the cold and hot temperatures and the rain and sun!  It sure did put a damper on our Field Day plans, but we have rescheduled our 4th-6th grade Field Day for June 11.    Thank you to PE Teachers, Elizabeth Croy and Ernie Herring, and to all the parent volunteers who had planned fun activities before the rainy forecast dampened our outside efforts.

Thank you to our wonderful office ladies and the work they do to greet  and support our students each morning and the numerous jobs they fill each day!  One hour they may find themselves the clinic aid, a bird catcher in a kindergarten classroom or even finding the owner of a stray dog on the playground!  This is in addition to the registrations, financial bookkeeping, custodial work orders, managing the school’s calendar for daily and community use or assisting classroom teachers with substitute coverage.  They are a small team, but a team who works well together under pressure!  Happy Appreciation Week to our fabulous office team!  Next time you are in the office, please help me to express gratitude to these hard working ladies.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child’s learning and experience at Oak Hill.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

SOL Schedule 2018 (Grades 3-6)

Students in grades 3-6 will be taking the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests from May 7 to June 1.  It will be very helpful if you can avoid appointments and trips which may take your child out of school during this time period.  Make up testing will occur throughout the window based on staff availability to administer tests.  Please click here to view the complete SOL Testing schedule.

Digital Citizenship Reminders

Fairfax County Public Schools believes that developing responsible and productive digital citizens is an essential life skill and that it can reach its highest potential when our school staff and the community work in partnership.  To that end, we would like to ask our parent partners to remind students of some very important tips regarding their school email.

  1.  Students’ fcpsschools.net email should be used for school related activities only.  It is not to be used for personal communication.
  2. If a student receives an email from someone they do not recognize they should not open it, but ask their teacher for guidance.
  3. If an email looks or sounds inappropriate or non-school related, tell a teacher immediately.
  4. Students should NEVER reply to an email from someone they do not know; they should ask their teacher for guidance.

We believe a consistent message from both school and home will help our students internalize these important digital safety tips.
