Congratulations to the students for doing an outstanding job. Ms. Mezvinsky said that
we received the top ratings and there is a lot of talent at our school!
We are so proud of you!
Thank you to all the families that came out to support GBE at the Chantilly Pyramid Art Show on Wednesday, April 18.

Friday, April 27, is College Day at GBE! This event
encourages our students to learn more about college choices and the importance
of a college education. GBE teachers are invited to wear clothing from their
alma mater, will post their “college bio sheet” outside classroom doors, and
will speak with students about their college experiences.
ALL GBE students are invited to
wear college shirts or colors from their favorite college/university. Stay tuned to the GBE
News to hear more about the college that some of our teachers attended.
Here are some reasons why FCPS supports “College Day.”
- College
graduates earn about $1,648 more each month, on average, than someone with
a high school diploma.
- The earlier
a child learns about college, and believes they can go, the more likely it
is that they’ll go.
- Fairfax
County Public Schools has programs to help students who are the first in
their family to go to college, or need help affording college.
We aim to help our students create a vision for
their future career paths!
Community Engagement Meeting

The FCPSOn community meeting has been
rescheduled for Thursday,
May 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Chantilly High School. FCPSOn

understanding of content and skills outlined in the Portrait of a Graduate in
order to be successful in the workforce of the future. For more

IMPORTANT SOL TESTING INFORMATION
Our students grades 3-6 will take the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL
Tests) starting May 8, 2018. It will be very
helpful if you can avoid appointments which may take your child out of school
during this time period. Also, it will help your child to perform his or
her best if he or she has had a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast and
comes to school with a positive attitude.
We are aware that Ramadan does begin during this window. If
your child will be fasting during this time and you would like to discuss
possible testing adjustments, please contact your child's teacher.
RISING

Launching
Mental Health Google Site
Mental health has been a “hot button” topic in our country over the past few months. School counselors are excited to share a new mental health resource site for our Chantilly community!
As
elementary, middle, and high school counselors continue to work with families
in each school, we felt it necessary to share similar information and resources
with everyone in grades K through 12. The Chantilly Pyramid’s
comprehensive Google site link can be found here https://sites.google.com/view/chantillycounselorsresources/home or
on our GBE Website.
Feel free to access the sites on your own. If you have specific questions
or needs, contact your child’s school counselor
directly.

Teacher Appreciation
Build Your Own Trail Mix Bar
It’s the time of year to show our appreciation for our terrific and hardworking GBE teachers and staff. We would like to, once again, honor them with a Teacher Appreciation Trail Mix Bar.
One way you can show your gratitude for our hard-working teachers is to donate an item (see below). The teachers will have the opportunity to stop in and make a bag at their convenience throughout the day.
In order for the Trail Mix Bar to be a success, we need your help. Please review the items and decide if and to what scale you would like to contribute to this special day. Please mark your calendars for drop off day. You may send contributions in with your student to drop off on their way in or out of school.
