AP Exam Excused Absence Forms
If a student is taking an AP Exam and would like to be
excused from their other classes on the day of the exam, they must fill out and
return a blue AP Excused Absence form.
These blue forms are available in the
Attendance Office, Student Services, and the Main Office. They must be
returned by Wednesday, April 25th to the Attendance Office. These forms are only for
students taking AP Exams. If a student is not taking an AP Exam they should
report to classes as usual that day.
Milk and Cookies
On Wednesday, April 25th, we will be celebrating our Woodson
students with milk and cookies.
For those of you new to the school, this is a great tradition. It
is a unique way for parents and community members to recognize our students and
to show them positive community support. Traditionally, milk and cookies are
mentioned in "All I Really Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten"
as a valuable life lesson. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you! At this
event, parent volunteers make hundreds of dozens of cookies and the PTSO donates
milk boxes.
After school on Wednesday, April 25th, parent volunteers shower
the kids with warmth and pass out baggies of cookies and milk to each student
at Woodson! In order for this to be successful, we need LOTS of help.
Please visit the sign up genius to donate cookies and/or help distribute on
April 25th.

Sports Physicals for 2018-2019
Believe it or not, it is time to start planning for the
2018-2019 school year. The first step toward eligibility to participate
in any preseason or afterschool athletic event is to complete a sports physical
on an official VHSL Pre-participation Physical Examination (PPE) form (only
version FEB2017 will be accepted).
The Woodson High School Athletic
Training Department will be offering sports physicals at Woodson High School on
Monday, May 7th. This successfully completed physical will be good for all sports and
out of season practices (green days, yellow days, weight room workouts) for the
2018-2019 school year.
This event is a fundraiser for the Woodson High
School Athletic Training Department and goes to support the athletes at Woodson
High School. The cost of the physical is $50 when you register
online. You can register by following this link: https://www.fcps.edu/node/33735.
We are always looking for medical and non-medical volunteers
to assist us for the event. If you are interested in helping out, please
contact Ms. Fickes @ kfickes@fcps.edu, or
click on the registration link to sign up.
Don’t forget the student and parent concussion education
must also be completed annually!!

Prom Dresses
Does someone in your family need a dress or a
suit for prom? If so, you’re in luck!
Mrs. Sussy Tomer, Woodson’s
Parent Liaison, has
collected formal dresses, a few suits/shirts/belts, accessories: like shalls,
shoes, earrings and necklaces to give to students in need.
Please have your
teen stop by room E108. Mrs. Tomer is in her office on Mondays, Wednesdays,
and Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Please contact Mrs. Tomer at setomer@fcps.edu or 703-503-4792 if you have
any questions.
2018-2019 Course Registration
We are currently meeting with students to
schedule for the 2018-2019 school year. If you have questions or
concerns about your student’s course selections, please contact your child’s
counselor. Opportunities for course changes will be limited next year. The deadline for changes to next year's course selections is Thursday, May 31st. Many schools have a deadline in March; however, we have extended to the end of May. Please help us keep that deadline by reviewing your child's course requests using SIS ParentVUE at https://sisparent.fcps.edu.
The
third quarter of the academic year is always interesting. Some
students get fatigued with the routines of school, classwork, and
homework. If your child did poorly in the first semester and you
are concerned whether or not he/she can still pass a course for the year,
communicate with your child's teacher.
 Order Your Yearbook
This is your last chance to save money on the 2017-2018 Woodson yearbook before it is full price. Visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and use code 5278.
