Dear CES Families,
It is hard to believe it is the end of the 3rd quarter and there are only 9 more weeks of school left for this year. There is a lot of learning, fun, and end-of-year assessments ahead of us so please be sure your child is in school each and every day.
We had a very busy week filled with Trout Releases, Field Trips, Pep Rallies, Band Concerts, Orientations, Outdoor Learning, and Fun Learning Activities.
One of the foundations of CES is our outdoor learning program. The nice weather this weekend provides you and your family with a wonderful opportunity to support this program.
-
Take a family hike.
- Observe the buds on a tree.
- Investigate a stream and/or pond.
- Make a leaf rubbing.
- Do some family birdwatching.
- Do anything outdoors!
If you and your family decide to do something outdoors this weekend please share your pictures with Mr. Douds at jtdouds@fcps.edu.

Next week we will celebrate Wellness: Body, Mind & Earth. Each day students are asked to wear certain colored clothes that represent the different topics we will cover. We have also included ideas and activities to do at home during the evening. Our goal is to have every student join us in celebrating Wellness at CES!
Spring Picture Make-up/Retake Day
Splendid/LifeTouch will be
offering a Spring Picture Make-up/Retake Day. It will be held Monday,
April 23, 9:30-11:30am in rooms 213/215. If a student is doing a retake
they MUST return the pictures they are not happy with. Only those
students with the order form will have their picture taken. There will
not be retakes on the class picture.
This week we explored Integrity
through the Positivity Project. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People
with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of
behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the
crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is closely aligned
with the terms of honesty and authenticity. People with integrity tell the truth
and have alignment in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
A
person who lacks integrity could be described as pretentious, hypocritical, or
insincere. They are pretending to be something that they’re not or they’re
saying one thing and then doing another. It is important to be able to change your
mind (and be open-minded), as you learn and grow. However, the main distinction
comes in the intention. Is the person intending to manipulate another? A second
important facet is self-awareness. It’s tough to be true to yourself, if you
don’t know who you are.
