Snacks for Snaps Promote Positive Learning Environment at Liberty Middle School

Please consider volunteering to provide snacks for our students to celebrate a successful “Snacks for Snaps” third quarter posting of positive messages at Liberty Middle School. Some suggestions for snacks include brownies, cookies, donuts, individual bags of chips, rice crispy treats, cupcakes, soft pretzels, mini pies, candy bars, fruit snacks, pretzels, goldfish, Little Debbie’s, cinnamon buns, bags of trail mix, individual bags of M&M’s, or your own favorites. Please bring 24 pre-packaged treats to school during the week of April 23-27. To maintain freshness, home-baked treats should be brought to school the morning of Friday, April 27, no later than 10:15 AM. Treats will be passed out to students during all lunches on Friday, April 27.  Here is the link to sign up.   Thank you for volunteering!

Social Media Parent Program—April 26th at Rocky Run MS

The Internet is an amazing tool kids can use to do homework, keep in touch with friends and family, and access educational opportunities.  However, the Internet is also filled with inappropriate content.  Developmentally, the preadolescent and middle school child is still learning impulse control.  This can lead them to make decisions in cyberspace that dramatically impact their lives and the lives of their family.
“Exploring the Effects of the Online World on our Kids” will be presented at Rocky Run Middle School on April 26th at 7:00 pm.  This program is open to all parents.  Parents of elementary and middle school children will find it most useful.  Parents will be given information on how to guide and protect kids on-line, what technology is used in the classrooms in FCPS, and receive a multitude of parent resources:  parental controls, independent reviews, age ratings, & other information about all types of media kids are using and/or exposed to; and information on apps and websites. In order to make this program more meaningful for our parents, we ask you to complete a short using this link.  Your answers to this survey will help us shape the workshops for participants.
