Olde
Creek Families,
I
want you all to be aware of a paving project that will be taking place in our
community during the next two weeks. We only learned of this project yesterday
afternoon when we discovered signs placed along Old Creek Dr. and many other
roads surrounding the school. According to the sign, this project is
expected to start tomorrow on some of the roads and directly in front of the
school on Monday, April 16. A similar project is taking place near Frost
MS on Pickett Road and in the Starlit Ponds neighborhood. Please know that FCPS
has been in contact with VDOT and asked that this project be delayed until
summer once students are out of school. We are currently communicating
with VDOT and the paving company so we know the specific timing, scope, and
impact of the project.
Obviously,
this project could have a significant impact on our parking, and
arrival/dismissal procedures at Olde Creek ES. Please note that according
to the signs there will be NO PARKING along Old Creek Dr. in front of the
school from April 16 - 30. We have been informed that the actual paving
work will only take place in between 9:30 – 2:00 each day, which should help
with Arrival and Dismissal time, but will not help the parking situation.
We
will be in communication with you as we get more information, but for now,
please try to help minimize traffic by having your students take their assigned
bus or walk to school. If you need to drop off or pick your child up
using Kiss & Ride, please allow plenty of time in your travel
schedule. If we need to adjust any of our practices related to arrival,
dismissal, and parking due to this project, we will let you know as we gather
more information.
