April 11 News from Westgate

From Our Principal

Dear Westgate Community,

I hope this finds you having a wonderful week.  We are certainly ready for warmer weather coming soon and I hope you have plans to enjoy the outdoors this weekend.

This week's Positivity Project character trait is integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is closely linked with the terms of honesty and authenticity. People with integrity tell the truth and have alignment in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  Ask your child what integrity means to them!

Friday, April 13th is a two hour early release for students and Monday, April 16th is a student holiday.  Please make sure you are aware of these changes and schedule accordingly.

We will be hosting Kindergarten Orientation for rising Kindergarten students this Monday, April 16th at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.  If you have a rising Kindergarten student please plan on arriving around 8:45 am so you are able to drop your child off in one of the classrooms before the presentation begins. We look forward to meeting our newest Westgate Wolves on Monday.

Join us TONIGHT for our PTA Auction.  Come support Westgate and go home with some awesome deals.  See below for details.  Registration starts at 6:00 pm and bidding starts at 6:30 pm.  We hope to see you there!

Thank you for your continued support of all things Westgate.  Have a wonderful rest of your week and a great weekend ahead!

All my best,

Hallie Demetriades

Principal

PTA Auction - TONIGHT @ 6:00 pm

You are invited to the Westgate Silent Auction on Wednesday, April 11th.

A silent auction is an event where individuals can bid on items such as an Autoban Indoor Kart racing pass, a coupon for Wintergreen Resort activities, a Total Wine tasting event for 20, Great Country Farms Farm Passes, and Ziplining tours at Sandy Spring Friends School for majorly discounted prices!

What is Westgate's Silent Auction?

Many area businesses, stores, and restaurants have donated items or experiences to the Westgate PTA. You and your fellow Westgate parents will bid on these items. Whoever has the highest bid pays that price for the item and gets to take it home! Usually what you end up paying for the item is less than its actual cost.

Additionally, faculty at Westgate have also donated their time to spend with your child. Win a chance for your child to bowl with Coach H and work with Mr. Bishop for the day!

All the profits will be used to pay for technology at Westgate.

And no, this is not a "silent" event! This event is filled with lots of laughter, music, fun, and even food! Childcare is provided by the PTA for Westgate students so come enjoy a kid-free evening!

Last year, families walked away with great prices on some fun family activities.

Join us! We'll show you how it works and maybe you'll win a great prize at a great price!
