Spirit Week updated

Dear Fort Belvoir Upper Parents, Community Members and Staff:

We are beginning the search for a new principal for Fort Belvoir Upper.  An important step in this procedure is to inform parents, community members and staff about the principal-selection process.  Therefore, all Fort Belvoir Upper parents, community members and staff are invited to attend an important meeting on Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Fort Belvoir Upper cafeteria.  We certainly hope that you will be able to attend this meeting.

Another critical component to the process is your written input.  We invite you to offer your individual, written input (preferably via email) regarding the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics needed for Fort Belvoir Upper.  You might also address any challenges or issues that a new principal will need to address.  Input is confidential and will not be discussed at the meeting.  We welcome your input now, upon receipt of this message, and are hopeful that many of you will share your thoughts.  Please e-mail your ideas to crhaydon@fcps.edu or mail your suggestions to Carolyn Haydon at Human Resources, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church, VA   22042-1203 by Thursday, April 26.  Suggestions for input are listed below.

I look forward to working closely with Fort Belvoir Upper parents, community members and staff during the principal selection process.

Sincerely,

Terry J. Dade, Assistant Superintendent

Region 3

Rising 7th graders

The Walt Whitman Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) would like to invite the Fort Belvoir Upper School rising 7th grade students and families to our PTSA meeting on May 10, 2018 @ 6:30PM. It would be an opportunity for students and families to become familiar with Whitman’s PTSA activities and mission, encourage rising middle school students to use their voice to make positive changes that impact their school experience, meet other Whitman students and families, and meet our principal, Mr. Herring. If interested in attending, we encourage families to sign up at: http://signup.com/go/PdAGmNZ.

The Whitman PTSA believes that family and community engagement is a crucial component to student success. To build more community support and outreach within our Mount Vernon School Pyramid, Whitman PTSA is sponsoring a community tea, Dressed To A Tea, on May 12, 2018 from 2-4PM. This will be a great opportunity for your families to interact with our Whitman Middle School community. We invite you to share this event with your school community at: Whitman-dressed-to-a-tea.eventbrite.com.
