A Note from Principal Gros
I hope you enjoyed a great spring break. I was lucky to be able to get away with my sister to enjoy some warmer temps. Hard to believe we survived a threat of snow this weekend and yet Friday's Spring Fest looks to have ideal weather on tap. We will be on an amended bell schedule on Friday. Students will attend periods 1, 5 & 7 and Spring Fest will begin at 11:30 and conclude at dismissal at 12:55pm. We will provide a grab n' go lunch that day for students who would like it.
For our new families, Spring Fest is a way to culminate and celebrate our Shine On Week, in memory of Casey Schulman. Casey was a Stuart alumna and student at UVA who died tragically while on a Semester at Sea study abroad program. Shine On Week was started at Stuart as a way to keep Casey's memory alive and encourages us all to spread kindness, positivity and cheer in the way that Casey lived her life each day.
The Casey Schulman Foundation awards a scholarship to a Stuart student each year in honor of Casey. You can find more information about the Casey Schulman scholarship and other named scholarships at the Stuart Education Foundation website. https://www.stuartfund.org/

 Justice HS Logo
We were excited to share the new logo over Twitter right before spring break and here it is for our KIT subscribers who may not be on Twitter. We were fortunate to partner with Startte (www.startte.com) who generously provided over 40 hours of graphic design expertise at no charge. The graphic designer created a number of images for us to use on apparel, print, and electronic formats. It was a dynamic process which included many revisions and edits and we are so thrilled with the final product. It is really looking amazing on some of the facilities changes that will occur with our name change for the 2018-19 school year. We are in the process of planning our new version of "Raider Day" to kick off the school year as well as a more formal ceremony to mark the start of a new chapter in our school's history. Dates will be advertised in the coming weeks. If anyone has a suggestion on what we should call the new "Raider Day", please email me at pmgros@fcps.edu.

Wish Week comes to Stuart HS
We need your help to meet our fundraising goal to support
Make-A-Wish Foundation. My name is Matthew Hua and I am the President of
National Honor Society (NHS). Next week (April 9-13) is our annual Shine On
Week as we remember Casey Schulman, a former Stuart student who was dedicated
to doing an overabundance of good for the community. In support of Shine On
Week, NHS is leading a supporting event known as Wish Week.
Wish Week is designed to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation,
an organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of children with life
threatening illnesses. I was one of those Wish Kids. In 2003, Make-A-Wish
granted my wish to go to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This was the first
vacation for my family and the first time I could get away from my demanding
medical routine. After my Wish Experience, my parents and doctors noticed that
I had a more positive spirit and my medical status quickly improved. It was on
this Wish Trip, at the age of three, that I spoke my first words. Fifteen years
later, I am the President of NHS and this Fall I will be going to college. For
more Wish Stories, visit Make-A-Wish's website (http://wish.org/wishes/wish-stories#sm.00001i3xa7nq08edex7cw1heideo2)
and see how the power of a wish can change a life.
At school, students and staff will be able to purchase Make-A-Wish
merchandise including: Make-A-Wish Star ($1), Make-A-Wish pens ($2),
Make-A-Wish phone wallets ($2), and Make-A-Wish bracelets ($5). If every
student buys 1 star, we will have surpassed our goal of raising $2,000. When
students and staff purchase a star, they will write their name on the star and
it will be added to the Star Wall in the Main Hallway to showcase all of the
donors and supporters of Make-A-Wish. 100% of all proceeds will go to
Make-A-Wish. If you want to support this fundraiser for Make-A-Wish, an
alternative method to donate is to go our National Honor Society's Team
Fundraising Page (http://site.wish.org/goto/JebStuart)
and donate directly to Make-A-Wish.
On behalf of NHS and our Stuart Community, we hope that everyone
will get involved in this fundraiser to help Make-A-Wish enrich the lives of
children with life-threatening illnesses. For more information about
Make-A-Wish, please visit their website at wish.org or email NHS at jebstuartnhs@gmail.com.
Have a wonderful Shine On Week!
Matthew Hua

The Little Mermaid - April 12, 13, and 14
J.E.B.
Stuart High School proudly presents The Little Mermaid. Disney's The
Little Mermaid is about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and
gives up her voice to find love. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by
Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, it is a
heart-warming, family friendly story featuring some of the best-known songs
from the past 30 years!
Thursday, April 12 at 7pm
Friday, April 13 at 7pm
Saturday, April 14 at 2pm and 7pm

special event requires a $5 entrance fee (cash and check only). Tickets will be
sold before the matinee, during intermission, and after the matinee show.
The Character Carnival will take place in our Little Theatre, which is
next door to the Auditorium. Participants will be able to meet the actors and
collect their autographs! Parents are encouraged to accompany their
children (free of charge), and may take pictures of them with their favorite
cast members. In order to preserve the voices of our actors, this event will be
about 30 minutes in length. Tickets:
General Admission: $15, Students / Seniors: $10. Online ticketing is available
at www.stuartdrama.org, and tickets are available at the door for cash, check and
