Spring Break Is March
26th-30th
April 2nd is a School Planning Day
As a reminder, spring break will be held March 26-30.
During spring break, South County's
offices will be closed.
Monday, April 2nd, is a
school planning day and a holiday for students.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 3.
DEADLINE TO PAY SENIOR
DUES ONLINE
Friday, March 30th will be the last day the online system will be
available to pay for Senior Dues through MySchoolBucks. Students will
have to make payments to the Finance Office via cash, check or money order
before OR after school only. Thank you.
Parent of Seniors and
Juniors
This year’s prom will be held on April 7th at the Torpedo Factory
in Alexandria from 8pm – 11pm. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, February 20th
in all lunches at a starting price of $60. The price for tickets will
rise as we approach the April 7th date, so please act fast. Students who
wish to purchase tickets must have all of their debts cleared by finance prior
to the date they plan to purchase tickets. Students must also have a
valid form of identification to purchase a ticket (Driver’s License, Student
ID, Passport, or other photo ID). Any student that would like to bring a
guest from outside South County needs to bring the appropriate form filled out
at the time of ticket purchase. Please see Mr. Southard in room C128 for
prom guest quest forms.
To clarify, Prom is open to all students. However, only
Juniors and Seniors may purchase tickets. Students not part of the 2019
or 2018 graduating class must be the guest of a Senior or Junior.
Students are limited to one guest.
Parents who would like to volunteer to help either setup or
breakdown can contact Mr. Southard directly at drsouthard@fcps.edu.
Yearbook
Time is running out to buy your yearbook!!
You have one month left to buy your yearbook at the price of
$75. After April 10, books will cost $85 and can only be bought
first-come, first-served at the end of the school year. To get your book
before prices increase, go to yearbookforever.com, type in South County High
School, and follow the prompts to buy the book. If you have any

One month left to buy Senior Ads for yearbook!!
Don’t let your senior be left out; buy him/her a senior ad
today. Senior ads in the yearbook are a special way to give your senior a
message they will keep forever. BUT they are only on sale for one more
month, and space is running out. To buy your student’s ad, go to
yearbookforever.com, type in South County High School, and follow the prompts
to buy an ad (you may have to scroll over or down). If you have any

Band News
On Friday,
March 9th, the SCHS Symphonic Band performed at the Virginia Band
and Orchestra Director’s (VBODA) concert assessment at Lake Braddock Secondary
School and earned straight superior ratings for the second year in a row.
Having earned a superior rating at the VBODA Marching Band Assessment this past
fall, South County has once again earned the Honor Band award from VBODA.
This marks the second straight year and the 9th time in the
school’s thirteen year history that the program has received the award.
Congratulations to all the band students on their hard work and achievements
this year!
SOCO Crew Club

Become a part of the
Stallion Brick Walk of Fame!
This
is a great opportunity to honor and celebrate your child’s SCHS experience—especially
if you have a graduating senior! The "Walk of Fame" is
located inside the SCHS Football Stadium, surrounding the Stallion statues by
the concession stand. Funds raised from the brick sales support the SCHS
PTSO.
The
spring deadline is March 28th. THIS WILL BE THE LAST ORDER
BEFORE GRADUATION!! Every effort is made to ensure the bricks will be
installed in time for graduation!
Bricks can be engraved with up to three lines of text and two emblems. To

Prom Attire
Want to look good for
the Prom? Men's Warehouse has tux rentals for as low as $99 and David's Bridal
is offering $50.00 off for prom dresses. Please indicate you are with
South County High School at either store to help raise funds for the All Night
Grad Party. All fittings are done in store and there are incredible
options to choose from. If you sign up five of your friends, you can earn
a free tux rental or $400 shopping spree at Men's Warehouse. Visit either
store and you'll be on your way to creating an epic look for your special
evening.

Baccalaureate ceremony includes a number of performances by seniors. Auditions for performing seniors will be
at 3:15p on Monday April 30. Seniors must contact Mrs Olivo at olivowriter@yahoo.com to
schedule an audition. Walk-ins without prior registration will not be allowed.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon
The PTSO's annual teacher/staff appreciation lunch is
coming up on Thursday, May 3. The PTSO does provide a catered
lunch, but we are looking for a few people to help out that day, or to donate
