1. Kiss and Ride Traffic Concerns: Several safety concerns have arisen recently in the Kiss and Ride area during morning arrival. We are seeing students dropped off on McLearen Road at the top of the school driveway. Please note that this is never allowed, nor is it in any way safe for your students to be let off here. There are many cars navigating the parking lot during this time, and there are no safe (or designated) places for students to cross. We ask that you wait until your car has reached the Kiss and Ride loop before allowing your student to exit your vehicle. In addition, please do not pull around other cars in the drop off area. As always, the bus provides the safest and most timely route to school and we highly encourage your use of the FCPS bus system.
2. 20th Anniversary Wonder Race Registration: Carson's 20th Anniversary Wonder Race will take
place from 4:30-7:00PM on Friday, April 20 (rain or shine!). We are looking
for teams of 4-5 to compete through a series of 10 obstacles. As a group, please
sign up for a race time you can commit to! Once a race time has been filled, that
race slot will be eliminated from the registration form. In order to compete on race day, each participant must have a signed waiver. Waivers were provided to all Carson students; if you need a replacement waiver, please see Ms. Donlen in A209. Please
email Mrs. Molnar llmolnar@fcps.edu or
Ms. Donlen ekdonlen@fcps.edu with any questions. Sign up using the link to the form.
3. 20th Anniversary Shirts for Sale: The SCA is selling $10 commemorative 20th Anniversary T-shirts. All proceeds from the sales of these shirts will benefit the 20th Anniversary Celebration week in April. Log on to www.myschoolbucks.com to purchase (sign up for an account if you do not already have one). Select the Carson store and "20th Anniversary Shirt." The deadline for ordering is Tuesday, April 3.
4. National Junior Honor Society:
8th grade members: All 10 NJHS service
hours must be verified in x2VOL by Friday, May 4th at 2:15.
Students who do not meet the service hour requirement will not be invited to
the medal ceremony. Please contact your team’s liaison if you have questions
about your service hours.
7th grade students: NJHS applications
will be mailed to eligible 7th grade students in May. The NJHS
recognizes students for excellence in Scholarship, Character, Leadership,
Citizenship, and Service. Membership in the society indicates that a
student attains, demonstrates, and promotes all of these qualities. All
seventh grade students who have maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average
(GPA) in the first three quarters of seventh grade will be invited to complete
an application. The 3.5 GPA is calculated by the county office and not at
RCMS. The query used to calculate a 3.5 uses 3.4999. Any average
below the 3.4999 is not considered a 3.5. Please contact your counselor
if you have questions about your GPA.
5. RCMS Drama Presentation: Our Drama Department will present Fiddler on the Roof Jr. on May 3, 4 and 5, at 7:00PM, in the RCMS Lecture Hall. Ticket sales begin April 17 at https://www.itickets.com/register/new/392244.
