Students Released Two Hours Early
Amy Huang, a junior, earned national recognition in the 2018
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!
She has been identified by panels of creative professionals
as one of the most talented young artists in the nation. This year, nearly
350,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top 1% were
recognized at the national level.

Silver Medal in the category of Design. Pictured above
Regional Science Fair was held on March 17 at Robinson High School. Lake Braddock students competed and eight (8) projects were recognized. The winners were:

- Kevin Duffy received an invitation to present
his project at a meeting of the DC American Meteorological Society
- Joshua Cheng, Peter Bleicken and Henos
Woldemichael received a Certificate of Merit from the Arctic Research
Consortium of the United States
The Lake Braddock Odyssey of
the Mind teams participated in the Northern Virginia regional tournament on
March 17.
The team coached by Laura Fonner and Mubina Sheikh won
second place for Spontaneous for Classics/Mockumentary Division II. Team
members are Nathan Fonner, Maliha Sheikh, Allison Little, and Laura
Ridgway. This team was a joint partnership with Irving Middle School, and
also had two other students from Irving on the team.
The team
coached by Jessica Shaver and Alexis McComb won third place overall in their division
for Vehicle/Triathlon Travels Division II. Team members are Thomas
Shaver, Hanna McComb, Emma McComb, Nusair Ahmed, Kenneth Padilla, and Shan
Satya.
The team coached by Terri Cigan and Chasity Fitzhenry won seventh place
for Style for for Drama/Stellar Hangout Division II. Team members
are Eli Fitzhenry, Madeleine Cigan, Luca Marucchi, Reyhan Elliott, and Elissa
Press.
Odyssey teams work all school year on creative problem solving, with
both impromptu and planned problems. The program is celebrating its 40th
anniversary this year, representing all 50 states and almost 30
countries.
