Dear Families,
Spring is almost here, and Spring Break is just around the corner!
The second half of the school year is always a busy time for our students as
our standards of learning testing will begin shortly, so please
encourage your students to take time to relax during
the break so that they can come back ready to learn. You should be receiving communication from your principals
about testing dates scheduled for each school. Below you will find
information on the upcoming budget town hall meeting and other events and dates
that may be of interest to you.

Each year our keynote presenters draw a wide audience of parents, educators, pre-service teachers, and community members eager to hear latest research, strategies, and trends in the education of students with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities.
This year’s conference focuses on building inclusive practices to support development of 21st Century skills and Portrait of a Graduate (POG) attributes for students with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities.
Want to learn more about FCPS’ plans to extend student learning and increase equitable access to technology? Attend one of five community meetings planned in March and April to hear more about FCPSOn and how it leads to personalized, meaningful learning experiences for students.
FCPSOn provides a device for each student and allows students opportunities for deeper understanding of content and skills outlined in the Portrait of a Graduate in order to be successful in the workforce of the future. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.
Learn more about the meeting dates and locations.
Each
year, FCPS
students have the opportunity to apply for the position of the student
representative to the School Board. The student representative is not a member
of the School Board but serves in a nonvoting, advisory capacity, representing
the interests of the students of Fairfax County Public Schools. Students who are currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 are eligible
to apply, and they do not need to be current members of the Superintendent’s
Student Advisory Council (SAC). Applications are due March 22, 2018.
The application and related details can be found at http://bit.ly/2GurnwQ. Please
publicize this opportunity to your student.
