2018 CULINARY CHALLENGE AND WELLNESS EXPO- HAYFIELD SECONDARY

The 2018 Real Food for Kids�
Culinary Challenge and Wellness Expo will
be held on March 17 at Hayfield Secondary School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Doors and exhibits open at 10 a.m. The event will feature a public tasting of
dishes created by students to be considered for school menus along with a
plenary session with speakers, panelists, and special guests sharing insights
on food, nutrition, and health. Admission is $15 per person and includes the
public tasting, plenary, and exhibits.

FCPS GLOBAL PLUS SPRING BREAK CAMP
The FCPS GLOBAL Plus office will be offering a new foreign
language Spring Break Camp in 2018 from 9 am- 1 pm for students in Grades 3-5
for $289 at Plum Center which is located on 6815 Edsall Road in Springfield,
Virginia. Each day students will get
the opportunity to be exposed to a different language and culture in Spanish,
French, Chinese and German, followed by fun and hands-on culinary classes. The registration form can be completed

FCPS THREAT ASSESSMENT POLICY
Fairfax County Public Schools has a well-established policy and protocol
for responding to threats of violence in the schools. To help parents and older
students learn more about the role they can play in keeping schools safe, we
have collaborated with the Youth Violence Project of the Curry School of
Education, University of Virginia to develop short videos with useful information.
These brief modules were developed for parents and children aged 12 and
up, and you may want to watch the student video with your child to answer any

These activities end THIS WEEK – Piano (Mon), Acting
(Mon), Tiny Chefs (Fri) and Sensational Science (Fri).
SPRING AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Registration ends at midnight March 15. Tumbling and Minecraft Modding (grades 1-3)
are full. There is still space in other
classes. Minecraft Modding (grades 4-6)
and Floor Hockey & Kickball (Grades 4-6) will be cancelled if the minimum

BINGO NIGHT IS THIS FRIDAY!
Are you
feeling lucky? Come on out for our
Second Annual Bingo Night on March 16! There
will be bingo games, special games, prizes and a silent auction! Individual pizzas (from California Pizza
Kitchen), sodas, water, popcorn and candy will be available for sale. The official flyer is in your child’s Tuesday

BOOSTERTHON!
PARENTS! To give your child the best educational
experience possible, we’re excited to raise funds for laptops for the 5th
grade and books for all grades! And
we’re hosting a Fun Run to make that happen.
Family and friends anywhere in the world
can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student
will run on the day of the Fun Run on April 12.
Our 2-week Fun Run program kicks off on April 3!
Plus, leading up to the Fun Run, students will learn how
to be brave and live with character through an unbelievable character theme,
Castle Quest.
HELP FAIRFAX VILLA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN 4 STEPS!

2. Connect to sponsors—friends and family who can donate
to help our school.
3. Cheer on your child! Come to the Fun Run on April 12.

March 21@ 7:00 pm in the Fairfax Villa Library
We will
have a special guest from the Garden Club/Outdoor Classroom. They will give an introduction to the school's
courtyard garden. Come find out how you and your family can get involved in
growing vegetables, raising monarchs, creating a habitat, and enhancing the
outdoor classroom.
We will
also be giving more details about Boosterthon (April 3-4/12).
While
we would like everyone to join the PTA, you do not need to be a PTA member to
attend PTA meetings. We would love to
have you attend, especially if we have a guest speaker who interests you or if
you have an issue or suggestion you would like to discuss.
