Dear Seahawk Families,
Our school – along with Terraset Elementary and Hughes
Middle – was placed into lockdown at approximately 12:45 p.m.
This was a precautionary step to protect staff and students while police
investigated a possible threat directed at the school. Police later
indicated that there was a report of a student with a gun on school property
and their investigation determined this to be a false report. The
lockdowns at all three schools were lifted at approximately 1:25
p.m. We appreciate the quick response from the police and the FCPS
Office of Safety & Security. Police are continuing to investigate this matter and we will provide you
additional updates, as needed.
School is back in session on an adjusted bell schedule. Evening activities will take place. Parents who would like to check their student(s) out from school may do so at door #1.
I want to commend staff and students for the way in which they handled this delicate situation.
