DECA Students

DECA students at the State Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach on March 2nd-4th.

Cav Culture Presentation Today

Your son/daughter participated in a school-wide program during the return period today that focused on microaggressions.

The students viewed a short video that used humor to provide a very clear example of what not to do in any social situation. The video showed obvious examples of microaggressions that believe it or not, happen in everyday life.

Whether you’re the microagressor or receiver, it’s a pretty uncomfortable feeling. While that video was intended to be funny, the consequences of macroaggressions are very real and can be quite detrimental.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWynJkN5HbQ

Students might be unaware that they have used a microaggression or that you have experienced a microaggression. The purpose of today’s program is to explain what microaggressions are, when and where they happen and what we can do to eliminate them from our culture here at Woodson.  Through her TedTalk, Andrea Boyles, is going to shed some light on microaggressions in everyday life.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YR8jNtV4BE

Our hope is that this program was helpful to the students and raises their level of awareness about the words they use and how they can affect others.

Thank you to our Cav Culture sponsors Aseem Rastogi and Kate Wright for putting this together.

Parent Survey

As part of the formal collection process to obtain feedback from families on the performance of Woodson's principal, FCPS will randomly select a sample of parents who will be contacted via email or text message with a link to an online survey.

If you are selected, an email will be sent from "FCPS Surveys." The survey link is unique to the individual receiving the email.  Once feedback is submitted the link cannot be reused.

Thank you for participating!

2018-2019 Course Registration

We are currently meeting with students to schedule for the 2018-2019 school year.  If you have questions or concerns about your student’s course selections, please contact your child’s counselor.  Opportunities for course changes will be limited next year.  The deadline for changes to next year's course selections is Thursday, May 31st.  Many schools have a deadline in March; however, we have extended to the end of May.  Please help us keep that deadline by reviewing your child's course requests using SIS ParentVUE at https://sisparent.fcps.edu.

The third quarter of the academic year is always interesting.  Some students get fatigued with the routines of school, classwork, and homework.  If your child did poorly in the first semester and you are concerned whether or not he/she can still pass a course for the year, communicate with your child's teacher.
