From Kindergarten to sixth grade, WFES students dressed in grade-level assigned colors for the SCA Spirit Day: My Many Colored Days, in honor of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America week.
Dear
Parents/Guardians,
We were excited
to have all of our students and staff back this week. We were proud of the resiliency shown by our
fourth grade teachers and students who started Monday in alternative learning
spaces due to an unexpected partial power outage in the quad.
On Thursday,
March 1, I escorted representatives from the British Embassy and Military of
Defense Education section on a tour of Wakefield Forest. Our visitors enjoyed the unique learning opportunities
available for students and had nothing but glowing feedback on our students and
staff. Getting to see our school through
another person’s perspective is such a fun part of being a principal.

Bike Helmets – it’s the law
As spring weather approaches and more students are riding bikes and scooters to school, we encourage you to make sure your children wear helmets for their safety. Fairfax County Code Section 82-6-38.1 states the following: Any person under the age of fifteen years of age shall wear a protective helmet that meets the standards promulgated by the American National Standards Institute or the Snell Memorial Foundation while riding or being carried on a bicycle on any highway, sidewalk, or public bicycle path.
For Strings and Band Parents
Instruments
should be going home with children on their lesson days. There is no available
long term storage space. Please check with your child to be sure instruments
are not being left at school.
