Seniors! Come and help plan your 2018 Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate is an inclusive, interfaith event that will inspire and celebrate the WT Woodson class of 2018. Be part of the process in choosing a theme; deciding on speakers and music, sound tech, graphic design.

We're meeting Wed., March 7th at 3:15pm in either Cafeteria A or B (There will be a sign on the door confirming the location). Please email pamhardin@verizon.net with questions.


Orchestra Concert—Tuesday, March 6th

The Woodson Orchestra will be giving a concert on Tuesday, March 6th at 7pm in the Auditorium. The orchestras will be playing the pieces they will perform at assessments. Come out and support these fine musicians.

Senior NOVA Field Trip, March 8 from 10am1pm

Bus transportation and lunch will be provided! Please see your school counselor for a field trip permission form. Forms MUST be turned in by March 5. 


Lacrosse Car Wash March 10th & 17th

Woodson Girls Lacrosse will be hosting two car washes: Saturday, March 10 and Saturday, March 17 from 8:30am -1:30pm in front of Woodson. This fundraiser is to benefit both the girls varsity and junior varsity lacrosse teams.


Partners for Safe Teen Driving

Attention all 10th grade students and their parents. The next Partners for Safe Teen Driving parent/teen seminar at Woodson is this Thursday, March 8th. The program starts at 7pm and will be in the Woodson Auditorium.

If the teen and their parent are planning on coming, you do not need to preregister. Just show up before 7pm because the program will start promptly.

The PTSO will be selling “Student Driver” magnets before the presentation, so come early to allow for parking AND magnet shopping!

Thanks to folks who continue to contact us, there are fewer open vacancies for next school year, but we still need YOUR help in several important areas. Please consider volunteering for the important position of PTSO Treasurer.

Consider volunteering! It’s a great way to be involved in our community and make a difference.


Cav Cruise

IMPORTANT DATES:

CAV CRUISE ART CONTEST WINNERS: Congratulations to Seo Jin Ahn for her winning Cav Cruise logo design, which will be used on all 2018 Cavalier Cruise related materials, including stationery and t-shirts. Seo Jin will also receive $100. Congratulations also to Joey Hitesman and Jenny Ko, who designed the second and third place logos. To see the winning designs, please click here. Thank you to all students who submitted fabulous logo designs for the 2018 Cav Cruise T-Shirt logo contest. All participants will be awarded extra $Cav Cash$ to be used at the Cav Cruise.

  • Community Donations follow-up phone calls. If you can help make follow-up phone calls to local businesses, please contact cavcruisedirector@woodsonptso.org.
  • Donations needed for Cav Cruise prizes - gift cards for restaurants, movies, activities, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, etc. Please donate any extra gift cards from the holidays that you bought and didn’t give or that you got and won’t use!
  • Friends and Family in the Food Service Business? We would love to accept their donation of food for the night of the Cav Cruise.
  • Food Committee Volunteers needed to help collect donations and organize. If you can help, please contact Elissa Kon at elissakon33@gmail.com.


Woodson Hockey Interest Club Update

Woodson Ice Hockey Club entered the play offs with a 2 win, 7 losses, and 1 tie record. Our first game was against West Springfield; we won 9 to 1. Next, first place in their division and second place in the league, Colgan. Colgan was up 3 to 0 at the beginning of the second. Payton Andrews scored, Woodson was on the board. Alex Kokkinis passed to Payton the score 3 to 2. Colgan scores! Will Hanson and Heather McCall teamed up, passed to Brett Morrow and it was 4 to 3. Dan Morgan and Brett Morrow tied it up 4 to 4, overtime! After 13 rounds of shoot outs, Sam Blanton being a wall, and Carson Hoffman scoring, Woodson wins and moves on to the Semi- Finals! The next opponent was T.C. Williams. Stands were full of Woodson fans cheering on their Cavs! TC was first to score. Carson Hoffman assisted by Danny Morgan and Thomas Santaniello tie it up. Alex Buchanan assisted by Carson Hoffman and Brett Morrow score! TC Williams ties it up! Alex Kokkinis scores! Woodson is ahead! TC scores with 45 seconds left in the game. Woodson finds themselves in a shootout situation again! This time TC Williams scores and they advance to the finals.

We are committed to providing and sharing programs and information to help parents, teachers and students navigate high school and beyond. The wide range of programs address a variety of issues that include but are not limited to: ADHD, Special Needs, coping with stress; parenting advice, homework resources; suicide prevention; drug use, addition and overdose; and underage drinking.


Earn Community Service Hours at Fairfax Villa Elementary School, Friday, March 16th, 6:30-9:30pm

Calling all Woodson students--Fairfax Villa Elementary school PTA is in need of volunteers to help with our school's BINGO night fundraiser on Friday, March 16th from 6:30-9:30pm. This event is for Fairfax Villa Elementary students and their families but to make the event a success, we need to fill several volunteer positions.
