We need your help in projecting the Kindergarten enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year. Any child who lives within our school boundaries and will be five years old on or before September 30, 2018 is eligible to attend GBW. If you know of a neighbor (within our boundaries) who has a child eligible for Kindergarten, please share this information with them and encourage them to contact school registrar, Patty Li, at 703-633-6700. Thank you for your help with this.

Exploring the Effects of the Online World on our Kids

Parent Program

The Internet is an amazing tool kids can use to do homework, keep in touch with friends and families, and access educational opportunities.  However, the Internet is also filled with inappropriate content.  Developmentally, the preadolescent and middle school child is still learning impulse control.  This can lead them to make decisions in cyberspace that dramatically impact their lives and the lives of their family. Rocky Run Middle School presents “Exploring the Effects of the Online World on our Kids,” on  April 26, 7:00 p.m. at Rocky Run Middle School.  This program is open to all parents.  Parents of elementary and middle school children will find it most useful.  Parents will be given information on how to guide and protect kids on-line, what technology is used in the classrooms in FCPS, and receive a multitude of parent resources:  parental controls, independent reviews, age ratings, & other information about all types of media kids are using and/or exposed to; and information on the apps and websites kids are using after Facebook.

In order to make this program more meaningful for our parents, we ask you to complete a short survey, found at https://goo.gl/forms/6vvXX1tVR4PV9Hsp2

Your answers to this survey will help us shape the workshops for participants.
