Jump Rope for Heart

Thank you to all of the Haycock families, the administration, and the Haycock staff for your support of the Jump Rope for Heart Event.  Haycock Cougars have raised $7,863 from the 137 students who have registered on the American Heart Association website.  Please continue to register on this website  heart.org/jump and click on students and type in Haycock as your school, as we are collecting donations until March 16th.

When your child registers they will receive a free wrist band.  Instant prizes have been going home daily as donations have been coming in.  They will also learn about heart health through this year’s heart health ambassadors, The Scare Squad.  Prize packages will be going home in April.

Thank you again for all your support and we LOVE seeing our students enjoying jumping rope with parents and buddy classes.

Haycock's crossing guard, Beeda, wrote a note of thanks to the Haycock community.  Thank you Beeda for keeping us safe!

Registration for 2018-2019 School Year

Soon we will be in staffing season.  The number of staff members we are allocated is based upon student enrollment.  If you have a child or know of a family who has a child who will be attending Haycock next school year and who currently does not attend Haycock, please register your child now.

If a child has been accepted into the AAP program from another school and the family has notified the AAP Office of the acceptance, there is no need to notify Haycock.  The AAP Office communicates the list of students who will be attending Haycock from other schools to Haycock.

Click on the link below to fill out the form for rising kindergarteners. If your child is turning 5 on or before September 30, 2018, they are eligible for kindergarten. Partial registration paperwork is accepted.  This form is only requested to be completed if you have a rising kindergartener attending Haycock next school year.

Right now, we want to make sure our school is fully staffed for next school year.  We also want to make sure we are able to have the smallest class sizes possible.  The sooner we know how many students will be attending Haycock next school year, the sooner we can advocate for more staff and then hire more teachers.

You are welcome to use the attached New Student Registration Checklist in order to help you gather the information to register your child at Haycock.

The person who is able to answer all of your registration questions is Rebecca Wright.  She is reached via e-mail at: rlwright@fcps.edu or call the school office at: 703-531-4002

Thank you to Ms. Callsen and Ms. Hecht for organizing Jump Rope for Heart!  It was great seeing students jumping rope, doing the hula hoop, and using Skip- It (Remember those?!)

Some of our students were so inspired by Jump Rope for Heart week that they created posters about hearts and health like Mya in Ms. Smith's second grade classroom.

This past week was Dr. Seuss Week where students dressed up in different ways to celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading!
