Stuart HS: Keep in Touch, February 25, 2018

A Note from Principal Gros

If you aren't on Twitter, here's a great story that FCPS did on our Shadow a Student event which took place last week.  We had 12 staff members shadow a student for a day to build empathy and also to improve the learning experience we offer to students.  Thanks to Dean Jason Kagarise for coordinating this event and to our staff members who volunteered to step away from their regular duties and sit on the other side of the classroom for a day.

Stuart High School in the News

She was almost deported as a teen. Now she helps frightened versions of herself, Article by Petula Dvorak, Washington Post, 2/15/18

Check out J.E.B. Stuart High School grad, Liana Montecinos in a recent Washington Post article, "She was almost deported as a teen. Now she helps frightened versions of herself." Personally, I have enjoyed watching Liana grow from student/athlete to community leader.  Link: https://goo.gl/453j5p

FCPSOn Research Study

We are conducting an evaluation of the FCPSOn initiative in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).  Please take a moment to review the parental consent form at this link which outlines the purpose and procedures of the study: https://tinyurl.com/yb295l34.  If you do not want your child to participate in this research study, please print, sign, and return this form to the school front office.  If you do not have access to a printer, please ask your child to pick up a paper copy of this form in the school main office.  If you have any further questions about the study please contact Dr. Jennifer Morrison, Principal Investigator, at 410-616-2395 or JRMorrison@jhu.edu.
