Dear CES Families,
I would like to review visitor procedures in relation to school security. As you know, all Liberty guests must have a picture ID to be scanned into our new visitor management system. We will now require even familiar parents and regular guests to scan their ID. Everyone must show ID every time. Please do not hold the door for those entering behind you. In the case of suspicious or unusual behavior, doors are not opened and an administrator or 911 is called immediately.
School design is such that visual observation of all guests occurs at the main public entrance before they can proceed further into the building. By ensuring that the main entrance is visible from the office, natural surveillance of the entrance is achieved. Upon entering the building, all guests must enter the office, sign in, and get a guest sticker which MUST be worn at all times in the building. All visitors must scan their guest badge stickers to sign out prior to exiting the building.
We had a wonderful turnout for the Olympic Themed Family STEAM Night on Tuesday! Please click here to view a slideshow of the fun.
Some of our third grade students celebrated a Fairy Tale Ball on Thursday. They did a wonderful job sharing their tales and were very creative with their attire.
Two years ago
Brother Blood spent 191 days camping and hiking the Appalachian Trail, a
distance of 2100 miles. On Thursday, he brought his pack and camping gear, along with
stories, pictures and videos to share his experiences of spending six months
living in the woods with the Green Team and Second Grade classes.
PTA METTING NEXT WEEK!
Thursday, March 1st at 7pm in
Room 101
Join
your PTA Board, CES Faculty/Administrators and families and hear what your PTA
has planned for March and the coming months. Meetings are always fun, and
if you don’t have a babysitter, kids are welcome (bring a book or other device
to keep them entertained). You don’t need to be a PTA member to attend,
but if haven’t joined yet, please consider doing so to help support our
teachers and students with many programs and initiatives all year long.

FLE PARENT PREVIEW
You are invited to attend an evening opportunity to preview
the Family Life Education media and lessons and to talk with school staff about
the program. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 1st
from 6-7pm in room 101. All program materials
and media for all grade levels will be available for your review at this time.
Parents/guardians who do not wish to have their child
participate in FLE instruction may choose to opt their child out of any or all
of the lessons. If you would like to opt your child out of one or more lessons,
please fill out the form opt out form found online at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle.
If you have already indicated your desire to opt your child out of FLE
lessons by using the form provided earlier in the school year, you
do not need to complete another form. Should you opt your child out
and then later decide you want your child included in FLE instruction, you must
notify your child’s teacher in writing before instruction begins.
