Patrols of the month

Congratulations to Katherine (5th) and Sam (6th) for being recognized as Patrol of the Month.  We are proud of you!

SCA Officers: Drew, Michael, Angel, Chase, & Kenneth took 5 boxes of school supplies to the Oakton Post Office to mail to schools in the Virgin Islands.  School supplies were collected from OES students and the postal fees were paid by the SCA CandyGram profits.  Thank you to Ms. Brown, Mrs. Schnaue (SCA Sponsors) and Mrs. Lanier (parent) for coordinating this important event.

Kiss & Ride:

All of Oakton students are provided bus transportation to and from school. This is our preferred transportation method for students.  Kiss & Ride is available as an option, but we ask that parents only use it in cases when it is absolutely necessary.  The line, both in the morning and afternoon, can get very long and cause traffic and safety issues. For Kiss and Ride to function properly, parents must follow these procedures:

  • A school staff member will provide supervision for Kiss & Ride from 8:55 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and from 3:55 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. After these times, parents must park in the front parking lot and come into school to drop off/pick up their child.
  • Children will load and unload from the passenger side of the car only, so that they do not cross in front of the carpool cars. Please be sure your child is prepared and ready to exit.  Parents, please do not exit your car.
  • Cars must stay in a single file line as they move to and from the Kiss & Ride area.  For the safety of the children, no passing will be permitted in the Kiss & Ride area.
  • Inclement weather presents an added safety concern for children who are privately transported.  Extreme caution is necessary on rainy days when traffic is unusually heavy.
  • Please be kind and patient while using Kiss & Ride.  It is important that all adults set a good example of cooperation and consideration for all of our children.
