Haycock Hello
February 16, 2018
One of Haycock’s former teachers, Rose Lynn Schwartz, recently passed away. Her daughter reached out to us asking if we could place a bench on Haycock’s property in honor of her mom. Through donations made on Mrs. Schwartz’ behalf, we purchased the bench and it is located in the courtyard along with Speedy and the fish. Mrs. Schwartz’ classroom overlooked the pond in the courtyard and Mrs. Schwartz enjoyed taking her students to the courtyard, so we thought this was the perfect location for the bench.

Soon we will be in
staffing season. The number of staff members we are allocated is based
upon student enrollment. If you have a child or know of a family who has
a child who will be attending Haycock next school year and who currently does not
attend Haycock, please register your child now.
If a child has been
accepted into the AAP program from another school and the family has notified
the AAP Office of the acceptance, there is no need to notify Haycock. The
AAP Office communicates the list of students who will be attending Haycock from
other schools to Haycock.
Click on the link
below to fill out the form for rising kindergarteners. If your child
is turning 5 on or before September 30, 2018, they are eligible for
kindergarten. Partial registration paperwork is accepted. This form is
only requested to be completed if you have a rising kindergartener attending
Haycock next school year.

Right now, we want to
make sure our school is fully staffed for next school year. We also want
to make sure we are able to have the smallest class sizes possible. The
sooner we know how many students will be attending Haycock next school year,
the sooner we can advocate for more staff and then hire more teachers.
You are welcome to use
the attached New Student Registration Checklist in order to help you gather the
information to register your child at Haycock.
The
person who is able to answer all of your registration questions is Rebecca
Wright. She is reached via e-mail at: rlwright@fcps.edu or call the school office
at: 703-531-4002
The American Heart Association and Washington Wizards want to
recognize those students who are registered online and have raised online
donations. Therefore, this season the Washington Wizards will be
providing each student who completes the online registration and raises $50.00
or more one (1) complimentary ticket with the purchase of at least one (1)
discounted ticket.* Also, any student who raises $200 or more online
will be entered in a drawing for the chance to be an Anthem Child at the
game. Each game will allow 15 students the opportunity to stand on court
with a Washington Wizards player during the National Anthem. Winners will
be chosen at random and we will draw 15 students per game.
Eligible games:
1. Friday, February 23rd vs. Charlotte Hornets
2. Tuesday, March 6th vs. Miami Heat
3. Tuesday, March 13th vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
4. Friday, April 6th vs. Atlanta Hawks
