Stuart HS Teacher Lexie Katz

Who's got game? Stuart HS teacher Lexie Katz! She went all out (or all up) on defense against Harlem Wizard's player Swoop, who's 6'7". The Wizards played Stuart's Raider Ballers team as part of a school fundraiser. The Ballers may have lost the game, but they're still tops to us. #OurFCPS Faces: Kate Salerno

test

We’re thrilled to introduce you to the great, Kate Salerno. Kate joined FCPS in August 2001 as a teacher and program coordinator at Oakton HS. She has also worked as an assessment coach at Falls Church HS, a lead teacher for the Achievement, Integrity, and Maturity (AIM) Program, and an administrator at Montrose/Cameron Alternative Learning Centers.

In 2012, Kate became coordinator for Nontraditional School Programs. These programs support students (kindergarten-adult) “for whom a nontraditional setting may be more conducive.” This includes alternative schools and learning centers, homebound or home-based instruction, state operated programs, and the AIM program. When talking with Kate, it's easy to see how committed she is to supporting students and doing everything within her power to help them thrive. What does Kate like most about her job? "I enjoy the ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop an individual learning path for students. I enjoy the sincere appreciation I receive from my supervisor, department, and from the people I work with, as well as students and parents.” She adds that, "If you enjoy challenges, this is the best place to work."

In her free time, Kate likes watching football and other sports, landscaping and gardening, refinishing antique furniture, traveling, and outdoor activities such as biking, walking, and hiking. Oh, and she occasionally does some farm work, too.

FCPS is lucky to have you, Kate!
