Cafeteria Volunteers Needed!

We continue to look at ways to support student behavior in the cafeteria. Due to the size of our student population, extra attention is needed to ensure students have a safe and enjoyable lunch experience. We are seeking some parent volunteers to assist in the cafeteria between 12:00- 1:40 p.m. Volunteers will participate in a brief training and receive an apron to wear so that our students know they are a designated volunteer. If interested in volunteering, please email Soli Rose at scrose@fcps.edu. Be sure to include your availability during the times above as well as your preferred time of day for training.

Fine Dining at Fort Belvoir Primary

Congratulations to the following classes as they have earned Fine Dining during their regular scheduled lunchtime! The students are excited to eat on the cafeteria stage and family members are welcome to join. Please note that this is an ongoing behavior incentive for the cafeteria as once a class has earned 50 points, they start earning points towards their next Fine Dining!

NNAT2 Testing for 1st Grade

The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test Second Edition (NNAT2) will be administered to 1st grade students on February 13th and February 14th.

Tuesday, February 13th - 11:45 AM: Borrelli, Michaud, Beauchasne, Vereen

Tuesday, February 13th - 2:15 PM:  Mutchler, Marino, Falstad, Klem

Wednesday, February 13th - 11:45 AM: Hines

Make-Up Tests: Wednesday, February 14th -  Friday, February 16th

The NNAT2 is an abilities test, so children are not expected to study or prepare for the test the way they would for an achievement test. Score reports will be provided to parents once scores become available. Typically, these reports are available several months after the test is taken. The NNAT2 is a nonverbal measure of general intellectual ability. The test evaluates a student’s reasoning and problem-solving skills through the identification of patterns involving geometric shapes and pictorial designs. The test is designed to assess ability without requiring the student to read, write, or speak.

FLU Activity

For the past nine weeks, the Virginia Department of Health has reported widespread flu activity and Fairfax County continues to see high levels of influenza activity in our community. Fairfax County Health Department works very closely with FCPS to monitor and respond to increases in influenza activity. The Health Department recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get vaccinated against influenza, stay home from school and work when sick, use your sleeve to cover coughs and sneezes, and wash your hands thoroughly after using the bathroom and before preparing/eating food.

How to Get Through Flu Season? Do the Bump! Do the bump!  Our Health Department encourages you to bump elbows instead of shaking hands, among other ways to avoid germs.

who

This week’s mystery staff member loves the beach. He grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and loves to cook. His favorite food is lasagna! An ideal day for him would be relaxing on the deck in the summer with his dog RJ. Can you guess who this is?

Last Week’s Mystery Staff Member was Jessica Sims, PAC IA!
