Dear CES Families,
Thank you to all of the students and families for another great week here at CES! Our students got to work with circuits and our 3D pens during science/STEAM instruction. Through this hands-on scientific exploration they are able to build their confidence and learn how different materials/objects work together. Please be sure to ask your student about the hands-on experiences they are having at CES.
On Friday, January 19th, CES held its National Geographic School Bee Final competition.
Congratulations to all students who participated and a special congratulations
to the third place winner- Robert Flanigan-Zarakas, the second place winner –
Carter Harpring, and the winner of our CES 2018 National Geographic Bee – Mohid
Khalid! Mohid received a special certificate and medal. He has
also taken a written test to qualify for the next regional level of the
Geography Bee. Way to go!

On Tuesday, Sook Smith (one of our parent liaisons) organized a Korean Food luncheon for the staff. The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to try the variety of food. Thank you to Sook and to all of the families that brought food in to share.
Wednesday was the 4th Grade Winter Strings Concert! The students did an amazing job performing. They also did a wonderful job teaching the adults how to play a song on the stringed instruments. A big thank you to Ms. Henry for being an amazing conductor and to Ms. Kropaczek for lending a helping hand.
This week we learned about the character
strength of Prudence — which is
increasingly rare and valuable in today’s world. This strength builds on last
week’s focus on hope, as both are future-oriented. Hope helps you set your
vision and prudence helps you make a plan to achieve it.
CES Soaring Eagles
Please share your thoughts with the staff! CES Soaring Eagles are compliments, kudos, etc. that we will share with the staff. What a great way to show your appreciation and to help make the CES Staff's week positive! Please click HERE to share your CES Soaring Eagles! Below are some examples.
- Thank you Heather Jones for not only teaching but making learning fun - with brain breaks, games and other activities. I especially appreciate her weekly pictures and newsletter so I know what is happening in the classroom!
- We love Mrs. Jennifer Hotochin! She always has a smile on her face! We'd like to thank her for being so encouraging and helpful to Caitlyn last year in 2nd grade and for giving her that extra boost of kindness and confidence she needed to start 3rd grade off on the right foot! Thank you, Mrs. Hotochin!
