Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Opt-out Forms

If your child is taking an AP course, he/she will be receiving an individualized report addressing the new AP exam fee. We are distributing the letter directly to students in one of their AP courses on either Thursday, January 11th or Friday, January 12th. Please remind them to share the letter with you. If you need a new copy, please contact Jessica Grenfell

This letter is the next step in the AP exam fee process. FCPS will pay for six exams in the course of a student’s time with FCPS. The letter identifies your child’s AP exam history and the current 2017-18 AP classes. If your family decides to opt-out of one or more of this years AP exams, the form must be received by FCHS Student Services office no later than Friday, February 2nd

Billing for AP exam fees will be done through MySchoolBucks beginning April 2018. Click here for more information. Students who qualify for the free and reduced-price meals program and have submitted the consent to share their free and reduced-price status will not be charged for these fees in accordance with their waiver selections on the fee consent form. These forms can be found on the Food and Nutrition Services, Free and Reduced-Price Meals web page.

The payment of student fees is the responsibility of parents and guardians.  However, for students and families who are undergoing economic hardships and are financially unable to pay the stated student fees, assistance is available as noted in the current version of Regulation 2135, Assistance to Students. Please contact your child’s school counselor to determine your eligibility.

Free SAT Practice Available on Khan Academy®

The official SAT Practice available on Khan Academy's website links to classroom learning and has great potential as a valuable tool.  Khan Academy's world-class practice tools are free for all students and include:

  • Thousands of practice questions, reviewed and approved by the College Board
  • Official SAT Practice Tests written by the College Board
  • Personalized recommendations for instruction and practice to help students fill their knowledge gaps

Now that students’ PSAT scores have been delivered, students must link their accounts in order to have access to this resource.  To help with this process, the College Board has provided a PowerPoint and a video that can be shared with students and families.
