CONGRATULATIONS TO MS. HOTCHKISS AND MS. MCCALEB!!!

Twelve educators from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) earned recognition as new National Board Certified Teachers.  Ms. Heather Hotchkiss, Physics teacher at Lee HS was one of the 12!  Heather achieved this recognition based on new standards implemented by the National Board for Professional Standards (NBPTS) in 2016 and earned our profession’s highest mark of achievement through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-review process, demonstrating their proven impact on student learning and achievement. Congratulations Ms. Hotchkiss!!!

Additionally, 20 FCPS educators renewed their certification from NBPTS for an additional 10 years during the 2017-18 school year. Ms. Nancy McCaleb, Art teacher at Lee HS was one of those teachers as well!  Renewing her NBPTS certification is a personal and public statement regarding Ms. McCaleb’s commitment to the teaching profession and to her students.

Both Ms. Hotchkiss and Ms. McCaleb recognize that their professional learning and growth never ends and we extend a warm congratulations to them both!
