CES Family Bulletin #20

Abby

Dear CES Families,

Well we did it, we are officially halfway through the 2017-2018  school year! Tuesday will be the start of the third quarter. We had a big week filled with fun events and school spirit. On Wednesday, the staff all donned their new Positivity Project shirts! We also were awarded a $1000 donation from the Centrewood Plaza. One of our former students, Abby put her name in the Holiday Contest and won! As a result, she got to choose her favorite school to receive the donation. Thank you Abby, and you are right, CES is the BEST!

Our school spirit night at Chipotle was well attended. We hope that the community will continue to attend our spirit nights, as the money raised on these nights help CES fund many of the wonderful programs we offer to our students.

Pep Rally

We celebrated our successful first half of school with a POSITIVITY PEP RALLY! The Centreville High School Marching Band performed and talked with the students about how to be successful in school.

family Steam night

Many families attended the Family STEAM Night on Wednesday. Families were challenged with creating catapults with the given supplies. It was great to see the families working together to assemble their creations! Thank you to Mrs. Settlemyre for hosting these wonderful events. We hope to see you at the next one in February.

civil Day

Third grade celebrated Civilization Day on Thursday! Students participated in activities that focused on Ancient China, Rome, Greece, and Egypt. The teachers did an amazing job creating, organizing, and implementing this wonderful experience for the students!

P2

This week we continued to learn about HOPE/OPTIMISM, which represent a state of hopefulness and confidence about the future (both short and long term). People with this strength are future oriented. They have a positive vision of what the future holds and maintain confidence that they will get there. They keep a positive attitude despite setbacks – and often find ways to convert what seems like an obstacle into a stepping-stone to achieve their goals.

CES Soaring Eagles

Please share your thoughts with the staff! CES Soaring Eagles are compliments, kudos, etc. that we will share with the staff. What a great way to show your appreciation and to help make the CES Staff's week positive! Please click HERE to share your CES Soaring Eagles! Below are some examples.

  • Mrs.Smit has been such an amazing advocate and resource for my child. She truly believes in the best of each student. We have been so blessed to have her twice and we are grateful as a family for her role in both our children’s lives. Her hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed! We hope she can feel our support not just today but everyday! She is simply AMAZING!
  • Tracy Keenan--There are not enough words to describe the positive impact Mrs. Keenan has on the CES community. She is responsive, understanding, incredibly connected with her students and a gem of a teacher. We adore her and we feel so fortunate that she is a part of our lives. Thank you, Mrs. Keenan!!
