Calendar Reminder

Today marks the end of the second grading period. Students will be dismissed 2 hours early. Dismissal will begin at 1:55 p.m. 

In addition, schools will be closed for students on Friday, January 26 for a teacher work day and Monday, January 29 for a staff development day. 

Tuesday, January 30 will mark the beginning of the third quarter grading period.

The yearbook committee would like to thank all the students who entered the yearbook cover contest.  There were so many great entries…….it was very challenging to pick just two.  The winners of the 2017-18 Yearbook Cover Contest are……

Pre-order flyers for the 2017-18 Yearbook will be coming home in February.  

Spring 2018 SOL Schedule (Grades 3-6)

    Mark Your Calendars

    Students in grades 3-6 will be taking the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests from May 7 - June 1. It will be very helpful if you can avoid appointments and trips which may take your child out of school during this time period.

    SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills specified in the Virginia Standars of Learning. Content areas will be tested according to the schedule.

    Thank you for your support and assistance with our SOL test administration.

    Box Tops Classroom Challenge

    Don't forget to keep collecting those BoxTops for the Classroom Challenge that begins on February 1! 

    The child and the classroom collecting the most BoxTops will receive a special prize.

    Chick-Fil-A Night

    Please come and support GBW PTA at Chick-Fil-A (in Fair Lakes) on Wednesday, January 31! Look for the flyer in next week’s Thursday folders.   

    Chick-Fil-A will donate a percentage of the sales (must show the flyer) that evening to the GBW PTA.  

    Hope to see all of our GBW Pandas on Wednesday January 31!

    Parent's Night Out

    Focus Family Karate Academy on behalf of the GBW PTA will host a Parents' Night Out on Saturday, February 10 just in time for Valentine's Day!  Kids will enjoy a high-energy karate class and fun games before winding down with a family-friendly movie.  

    The cost is $35 and includes pizza and organic juice for dinner. Proceeds will help fund field trips, classroom supplies, and other GBW programs.
