End

Thursday marks the end of the quarter, and therefore this Friday and next

Because of the end of the quarter, this Thursday is a two
hour early release.
AP Exams – Deadline February 2
Last
week, all students enrolled in an AP class received a letter that
gives the option to opt out of AP exams. This form must be returned by February
2 to the school counseling office. If you do not opt out of exams prior to
February 2, you will automatically be registered and billed, if
applicable. No extensions will be granted to the February 2 deadline to opt
out of a test.
The
fees for the first six AP tests taken by each student for courses in which they
are enrolled for high school credit will be paid by FCPS. The letter you
received in January will detail how many tests you have taken previously. Full
information about AP test fees can be found on the FCPS
website. Any exams students
take beyond the six FCPS-funded tests will be charged a fee of $93.
If any student wants to take an AP
exam in a course that he/she is not enrolled in, registration is now open and
is due no later than March 1. Each exam costs $93, and the form to register can
be found in school counseling or on our website.
Students currently enrolled in an AP course do not need to complete any
form.
If you have any questions about AP
testing in general, or require an additional copy of the AP opt out letter,
please contact one of our AP testing coordinators: Alyson Calvello at acalvello@fcps.edu or Katie Warehime at kjwarehime@fcps.edu.
Full Frequently Asked Questions
regarding AP exams are located on our website.
College Board Accommodations –
Deadline February 9 for AP Exams
Students
who have an IEP or 504 do not automatically have College Board accommodations.
If your child is planning on taking a PSAT, SAT, or AP Exam, you must apply for
accommodations through the College Board. For AP Exam approval, paperwork must
be submitted to Oakton by February 9, to allow for processing prior to
the College Board deadline. All paperwork is to be given to John Glufling, SSD
Coordinator at Oakton High School. We
encourage you to turn in paperwork as soon as possible, as the process can take
a long time. Students who
have been approved in previous years do not need to apply again.
To apply for College
Board accommodations, each of the following must be completed:
Paperwork should be
delivered to Oakton High School to the attention of John Glufling, or emailed
to jaglufling@fcps.edu.
If you have any questions
regarding the process, you can contact your child’s case manager or counselor,
or email John Glufling at jaglufling@fcps.edu
or Martha Rodeheaver, Assistant Principal, at myrodeheaver@fcps.edu.
Full Frequently Asked Questions
regarding AP exams are located on our website.
