Haycock Hello
January 19, 2018
This afternoon was the Haycock Geography Bee. The students did an incredible job answering questions! Thanks to Ms. Susanna Sullivan and Ms. Nellie Williams for their work in organizing and leading the Haycock Geography Bee.
The results:
Third Place - Max DiPatri
Second Place - Max Wang
First Place - Deven Hagen (Deven and his proud family below)
All Level IV referrals were due January 12th.
A confirmation letter that we received a referral was sent home in the Tuesday
folders on January 16th. If you turned in a referral and did
not receive a confirmation, please contact Mrs. Brower at lsbrower@fcps.edu. If your child
received a “pool” letter, you will not have received a letter confirming a
referral.
Soon we will be in staffing season. The number of staff members we are allocated is based upon student enrollment. If you have a child or know of a family who has a child who will be attending Haycock next school year and who currently does not attend Haycock, please register your child now.
If a child has been accepted into the AAP program from another school and the family has notified the AAP Office of the acceptance, there is no need to notify Haycock. The AAP Office communicates the list of students who will be attending Haycock from other schools to Haycock.
Please click on the link below to fill out the form for rising kindergarteners. If your child is turning 5 on or before September 30, 2018, they are eligible for kindergarten. Partial registration paperwork is accepted. This form is only requested to be completed if you have a rising kindergartener attending Haycock next school year.

Right now, we want to make sure our school is fully staffed for next school year. We also want to make sure we are able to have the smallest class sizes possible. The sooner we know how many students will be attending Haycock next school year, the sooner we can advocate for more staff and then hire more teachers.
You are welcome to use the attached New Student Registration Checklist in order to help you gather the information to register your child at Haycock.
The person who is able to answer all of your registration questions is Rebecca Wright. She is reached via e-mail at: rlwright@fcps.edu or call the school office at: 703-531-4002
Thank you Ms. Lilienthal and Ms. Hawley!

On Saturday, February 10, 2018, Career and Transition Services along with several Fairfax County adult service providers and the FCPS Parent Resource Center, will host “Super Transition Saturday” from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lanier Middle School. This is a free event for parents and educators of students with IEPs of all ages, elementary through high school. Breakout sessions will cover postsecondary support services, student self-determination as an evidence based predictor of postschool success, and in-school career and transition support services that are available to FCPS students as they progress through the secondary years toward graduation and beyond. A highlight of the day is a parent and student panel representing a range of challenges and successes. Members of the panel will convey personal experiences and answer parent and student questions from their perspectives of having been through the transition process. Childcare is provided for ages 3 and up and requires advance registration. You can register at: Super Transition Saturday. The snow date will be February 24, 2018.
