Dude Be Nice Week
Today, Woodson Leadership students kicked off Dude Be Nice week. Students were encouraged to wear black today to show their support against bullying.
Next week, students can send free "Nice Grams" to their friends that will be delivered on Friday, January 19th. For $1, a student can upgrade the Nice Gram to include a lollipop.
On Wednesday during lunches, students can sign a pledge to stop bullying.
Dude Be Nice t-shirts are on sale for $5 and can be purchased during lunches between the cafeterias.
Throughout the week, staff will recognize students who are exemplifying kind behavior by handing them a blue raffle ticket. Students will write their name on the ticket and drop them off in Room A133. Tickets will be drawn all week and students will win prizes.

Congratulations, Mr. Annear!
Over winter break, Mr. Annear was notified that he achieved National Board Certification. Established in 1987, National Board Certification is recognized as the gold standard in teacher certification. Obtaining certification is
a three-year process with four components. The first is a content-area
test, with multiple choice and writing sections. The other three
components require candidates to extensively reflect on their practices,
especially in the areas of lesson-planning, differentiation, learning
environment, assessment, and feedback. Candidates submit original
instructional material, student work, videos of their classes, and in-depth
reflections.
The certification process is ultimately an enriching program that helps teachers to self-assess
and think deeply about their practices. Mr. Annear says, "I’m glad I did it, and I’m
sure that I’m now a more skillful and self-aware teacher."
Brian Annear, National Board Certified Teacher.
