The deadline to refer students in grades 2-6 for full-time,
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Level IV services to begin during the 18-19
school year is January 12th by 4pm. In addition to the mandatory Level
IV referral form, parents may also submit the following optional
materials:
- A
Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
- Private
ability testing done with George Mason or a licensed psychologist
- Up to 4 single-sided
pages of work samples that demonstrate critical and creative thinking
- Up to 5
single-sided pages of a combination of awards/letters of
recommendation
All items should be submitted together and addressed to Sara
Balcanoff, AART. Parents may drop applications off in the SVES office at any
time prior to the 12th. Applications cannot be accepted through email.

Rising 7th Grade Curriculum Night and
Electives Fair- Rising 7th grade
parents and students are invited to attend our Rising 7th Grade
Curriculum Night and Electives Fair on January 31, 2018 at 6:30pm
in the Hughes gym. (Snow date is February 7, 2018.) Students and parents will
be able to hear about student life at Langston Hughes. Parents will hear
details about course information and students will tour the electives
classrooms.
Rising 7th Grade Course Selection Information – Hughes Counselors will visit your child’s elementary
school during the month of February. During this visit, students will
receive a presentation on course offerings and complete a mock course selection
sheet. Your child will receive a course selection booklet and course
selection sheet to bring home. Parents/guardians are asked to complete and sign
the course selection sheet and return it to the elementary school by their
assigned deadline. Rising 7th graders will visit Langston
Hughes in April. Details of this visit will be shared at a later time.
