Curriculum Night-TOMORROW

Rising 7th Grade and Rising 8th Grade Curriculum Night for Parents-

The Rising 7th and Rising 8th Grade Curriculum Night will be held at Liberty tomorrow Thursday, January 11th at 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn about the 7th and 8th grade curriculum and elective options for your student as they begin to select classes for the 2018-2019 school year. We will also have information sessions starting at 6:00pm for parents of ESOL students and parents of special education students.  Hope to see you on January 11th!

January Executive Function Skills

January Executive Function skills are Emotional Control and Response Inhibition.  Emotional control is defined as the ability to manage emotions. Students will be encouraged to be thinking about their emotional state and if that emotional state is conducive for learning.  Response Inhibition is defined as the ability to think before you act. Acting inappropriately, have difficulty taking turns, and talking too loudly are several examples of students that lack response inhibition in the classroom. The desired outcome is to have students develop an understanding of when inhibiting an immediate response is beneficial. Please speak with your student about the benefits of emotional control and response inhibition.

Rising 9th graders-If you are interested in finding out more about the IB program in order to make a more informed decision, Robinson would love for both students and parents to attend their curriculum night on Thursday, January 11th at Robinson.

6:00-6:30pm   Elective Fair in the Main Hallway

6:45-8:00pm   Curriculum Presentation

Please note that these two presentations have been combined into this one event this year.

From the PTA:

Parents,
First, thank you to everyone that surged to support the Holiday CandyGram event and the Faculty Luncheon.  Due to several folks stepping forward, both events were major successes.

Next event is the annual Liberty v. Stone Basketball night which will be on Friday, January 19th, starting at 6:30.  It will be held in the Liberty Gym and is open to all students, family and friends.  The PTA is involved in 2 ways:  ticket sales at the door ($5 + a canned donation) and some simple concession sales (pizza, candy, and water).  We'll need volunteers again to man these requirements, so please sign up via this link.
