Glasgow Community -

I hope you all stayed safe and warm over the last few days as we experienced the first inclement weather of the season. This weekend as a member of the Bailey’s Rotary Club, I volunteered to prepare and package over 20,000 meals for FCPS food insecure students. The highlight of the event was seeing so many current and former Glasgow students working to strengthen our community.

With the closing of school on Thursday and Friday last week, the J.E.B. Stuart High School Rising 9th Grade Information & Curriculum Night has been moved to tomorrow, January 8 at 6:30PM. It is hard to believe that current 8th graders will be starting high school in eight months! If you are unable to attend the event, I encourage you to contact J.E.B. Stuart High School’s Students Services Department or visit their website at https://stuarths.fcps.edu/student-services for more information.

Finally, just one of the many benefits of your student attending Glasgow Middle School is the unique partnerships we have with outside businesses and organizations. We are excited to announce that we are once again partnering with Neuroinspire Education to offer a one-day FREE evening event in Neuroscience, Aerospace, and Astrophysics called NeuroInspire Impulse. This unique opportunity event is led by science and engineering students from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

NeuroInspire Impulse is not just a science and engineering event. Mixed with content from the arts and humanities, Impulse uniquely showcases current and future areas of intellectual exploration. Hands-on demonstrations will give students the opportunity to interact directly with advanced high school students with experience in their respective areas of study and education outreach. To register for this free event, please visit https://www.inspireprograms.org/impulse.

See below for more information. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Shawn P. DeRose
Principal
