FHES: Weekly Update

Principal's Message: Welcome Back & Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful winter break with family and friends!  Our students and staff put forth an incredible effort in 2017 and the new year will bring the same.  I am thankful to lead a school of amazingly talented, happy students and committed, passionate staff.  I was able to visit family for a few days in Pennsylvania.  It is always a nice change of pace to drive down that old dirt road to the family farm.  My son, Sebastian, turned 3 years old on December 16th.  Oh my does time fly by!  I posted some recent photos here.  January brings with it a lot of school events, so make sure you keep reading below to stay current with FHES happenings.  I understand that some families may not be receiving this newsletter.  In the past I sent a weekly KIT message via email, but this "News You Choose" format is now required by FCPS.  I will, however, start sending a link to this newsletter through the KIT system to ensure everyone receives my weekly newsletter.  To make sure you get it, click here to sign up to receive this newsletter directly!  I wish you all the very best in the new year!  Stay warm!

STEAM Event with Marymount University!

STEAM

Once again we are partnering with Marymount University's Department of Education and International Association of STEM Leaders to bring a unique STEAM experience to our community!  You may remember last year's evening event which provided engaging hands-on experiences for our students.  This time it is a Saturday morning event on January 27th starting at 10:00 AM.  Mark your calendars and click here for the flyer!  You don't want to miss it!!!  There will 20 stations of STEAM activities for you to participate in plus there will be an inflatable planetarium. All are invited to attend this wonderful opportunity. The event is free of charge and you will get to take many of your creations home with you. If you have any questions, or if you are a parent and you would like to volunteer to assist the Marymount students who are manning the stations, please contact Mr. Misch the FHES AART at ffmisch@fcps.edu.
