Happy Holidays!
Dear Ravensworth Families,
Welcome to the last edition of The Raven's Nest for 2017! It's hard to believe we are about to ring in 2018. All of us here at Ravensworth Elementary School wish you a very happy holiday, and a safe and healthy New Year!
This is just a reminder that Ravensworth Elementary School, including the Main Office, will be closed from Monday, December 18 - Monday, January 1. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 2.
PLEASE NOTE: The last school day before Winter Break - Friday, December 15th- will be a full, regular school day with dismissal at the usual time, 3:20 pm.

Special Holiday Wishes to our Ravensworth Military Families
We all know that the holidays can be hectic at times, and can be especially hard for our families who are separated due to one parent being deployed. This week, one of Ms. Gleich's first grade students was excited to introduce his classmates to his dad who is home from deployment! Major Prunty is home for just 2 weeks before resuming his deployment, and we want to thank him for making time to visit our school and reading to Ms. Gleich's class! We honor all of our military families this holiday season, and are grateful for their service.

When We Return From Break...
31 Acts of Kindness
To ring in The New Year, our Ravens have been invited to participate in 31 Acts of Kindness throughout the month of January. Information about this initiative was recently sent home in the Wednesday folder. This is a voluntary program, and we thought it would be a lovely way for our students to kick off 2018.
Are
you willing to hold a door open for
someone? Are you up for letting someone
go ahead of you in line? You never know
what can make a person smile, and it's those little things (and maybe some
bigger ones too) that can make the difference in someone's day. That's why we are starting 2018 with 31 Acts
of Kindness.
Starting
January 1, try to do at least one nice thing for someone. See if you can keep
it up, doing a good deed each day of the month. If you'd like to share, fill
out a 31 Acts of Kindness paper, and drop it off in the box in the lobby. A few
will be randomly chosen to be read on the morning announcements, and all will
be posted in the hallway at school.
Thanks to one of our 4th graders, Matt Schaeb, for this thoughtful initiative!
6th Grade Families
Lake Braddock Middle School will be hosting their 7th Grade Curriculum Night on Thursday, January 4, 2018. This will be at 6:30 pm. This is a wonderful night, chock full of great information for your rising 7th Grader!

Cold Weather Safety Reminders
Winter has definitely come to our area Wind-chill temperatures
this week were well below freezing, and it’s expected to stay
cold the remainder of this week. Please remember that students will go out
for recess, unless severe cold or other inclement weather limits outdoor
activities.
Please be sure your child is dressed for the
cold when he or she leaves the house in the morning, including jackets/coats,
gloves, hats, scarves, etc. We appreciate your support as we work to keep children safe!
