From the Principal:

A huge thank you goes out to our music department that presented their Winter Concert last evening. It was a collaborative effort on the part of the chorus, band and orchestra directors and students. The final song was God Bless America played and sung by the combined ensembles. It was definitely impressive to hear these accomplished, young musicians!

If you missed that concert, there will be an orchestra concert tonight, chorus tomorrow and band next Tuesday.

PBIS School Assembly at Liberty on December 5

PBIS at Liberty is our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program. On Tuesday of this week we welcomed “Corey the Dribbler” to our school to showcase his basketball skills and his skillful dialogue with our students about showing respect for each other and for themselves. Corey is a 4-Time Guinness record holder and former Harlem Globetrotter who travels the country inspiring students with his character message of Respect, Education, Positive Attitudes, and Anti-Bullying, the four principles he encourages students to live by!  Our students were involved and engaged throughout the assembly. Thank you to our awesome PTA for sponsoring this fabulous event!

The Rising 7th and Rising 8th Grade Curriculum Night will be held at Liberty on Thursday, January 11th at 6:30pm. We will also have information sessions starting at 6:00pm for parents of ESOL students and parents of special education students.  Hope to see you on January 11th!

Deadline: AAP Level IV Referrals - January 12, 2018

Parents or guardians of 7th grade students may initiate the full-time AAP Level IV screening process by completing and submitting an Advanced Academic Programs Level IV Referral Form to the Liberty Student Services Department no later than January 12, 2018.  No late referrals will be accepted. AAP Level IV services are available to students in grades 3-8.  Students may be found eligible for full-time placement in AAP Level IV Center classes through a central selection process and receive a highly challenging instructional program in the four core subject areas.  Multiple criteria are reviewed by a central selection committee to determine eligibility for all FCPS advanced academic services. More information about AAP services available at the middle school level may be found on the FCPS public website at:  https://www.fcps.edu/academics/middle-school-academics-7-8/advanced-academics.  If you have any questions, you can contact the Student Services Department at 703-988-8200.

From The PTA:

Parents,

Hopefully many of your students came home on Tuesday talking about the great show by Corey the Dribbler.  It sounds like he was a huge hit with the kids by being both entertaining and informational.  And .... he was paid for by the PTA via fundraising and membership dues for the enjoyment of all 1,100+ of our kids.  So, thank you to the 115 parents and 54 faculty members that have joined the PTA, as well as any of you that have volunteered at events this year.

Speaking of fundraising and volunteering ... we are still very much in need of help with the Holiday CandyGrams and the Holiday Staff Lunch for next week.  Please sign up via the links below.  Your help is greatly appreciated!
